Cutting scientific and medical research is really never the answer. Things like this are what will hinder further research and advancement... not because a small department got cut (which still isn't good), but because this will essentially put the fear into any research group that their existence is not secure.

It may even prevent researchers from attempting to research new things or expand into new areas if they could be on the chopping block for any arbitrary reason cooked up by politicians that don't hold a medical degree or research related degree.

The issue is this is one of three facilities that researches drug-resistant gonorrhea and cures for it. There is only one drug that cures it and the disease is quickly becoming resistant to it. There's over 1 million cases in the US alone every year.

How big are these departments anyways, id assume the funds going to all three departments is probably a lot of money when realistically we probably only use one department for the serious things, or assuming by their budget cuts, they use two, it's possible they realize that the CDC was over employed with employees and to save funds they let go of the extras, I honestly doubt that if the positions were doing important tasks in those departments, they wouldn't have been let go, id assume the 62,000 remaining are the ones that keep the department running.

You don't know that. Just because specific plans haven't been made public doesn't mean there aren't any such plans.

The administration has talked a lot about combining forces and streamlining the government, as well as outsourcing certain functions where they are more efficiently done commercially. Any of those things could well be in the plans.

The CDC has been infected with major corruption, and so moving functions away from the CDC to someplace with more oversight is very likely what's going on here. This is the same CDC that created nonsense COVID rules, that shut down even the discussion of anything they didn't directly recommend (despite admitting later that they really had no idea what to do themselves, and were making stuff up as they went along), and who funded drag shows in Rwanda and stupid crap like that. You do that kind of stuff, and there are going to be negative consequences.
