Are things ever gonna go back to normal?

It seems like our lives haven’t been normal for a while now. Ever since Covid took place, there’s just been this unshakable vibration that things are not right

I don't recall anything really being "normal" since 9/11. We got attacked then went to war in Afghanistan. A year and a half later, we went to war again, this time in Iraq and in the name of "preventing the next 9/11", despite massive widespread objections from Americans. Then came Facebook and social media, and then smartphones. Then Barack Obama got elected and started pushing idiotic and irresponsible policies and capitalized big time on racial politics.

Then came the reaction in the form of Donald Trump, whose election infuriated many people who once loved the man (Joy Behar, ironically one of the angriest, most unintelligent, and most hateful people on television, called him "our friend"). They were afraid because Republican candidates had once been neutered and clean-cut car salesmen who would rather "lose with dignity" than be boisterous and aggressive and win. A lot of people started re-evaluating what they believed about themselves, politics, America, and America's relationship with the world.

THEN came COVID, which was a political tool from the start. People again started re-evaluating, but this time about their relationship with the government. And of course, the thing was lied about openly, shamelessly, and repeatedly by the "news" media. So people also questioned what they were told there as well. Then you had the 2020 election, the controversies surrounding it, a silly little riot, and then four years of the absolute worst president we've ever had, who somehow thought that we needed to cheer for every "first this, that, and the other identity" in every job. And then dealing with all the insane woke politics being shoved down our throats in every movie and TV show we could think of.

So I guess I'd have to know what you're defining as "normal".

No I think people were looking for an excuse to turn into more jerks than they were, and covid gave them the excuse.

“Normal” is extremely subjective and relative. As far as several hundreds of thousands of people are concerned, life is “normal” again. Businesses are open, people are going back to work, the social pressure to sanitize your hands after touching every surface is gone, etc. if you still feel that something is “off” that’s definitely something subjective to you and might be worth exploring with a therapist
