What's the sickest you've ever been to where you thought you might die?

For me, it was back in grad school when I was 24. I was throwing up a lot and had the chills and my body felt so weak and ached so bad. I was all alone and thought I was going to die alone.

I don't know what made me so sick. It might've been my body not used to being vegan at the time or maybe something else. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

@simslover92 Several years ago, I somewhere/somehow contracted Clostridium Difficile infection, and it began one day at work.  That night at home, after hours of diarrhea, lost consciousness, fell against furniture, broke my front teeth and my nose and was bleeding all over hell.  Emailed my brother, in Atlanta in my delirium, and had a neighbor take to to the hospital emergency the next morning. My brother, then a nurse in Atlanta, flew to California and came to the hospital to see me.  I was hospitalized for a month and a half, not sure if I would survive the infection. It took me six months to recover and at times thought I might die as a result.

It was when I got covid 18th September 2020. I have never taken a sick day in 25 years then 3 weeks coughing blood, bedridden, sweating, shivering, headaches, fever, it was awful.

It was just a few years ago and I thought for positive sure that I was going to die that I have my passcode to my cellphone to my late boyfriend and that was one of the biggest mistakes I made in my life.
I'm pretty sure that I was severely dehydrated and went in the ambulance to the emergency room and was given hydration therapy and felt SOOO much better!

It was from about 27 July to 06 August. No one is sure, but I likely had viral meningitis followed with pneumonia. The meningitis led to a high fever and a headache that didn't break, but the pneumonia later... that was fucking scary. I tried to go back to work (130 miles from home) around Wednesday August 4th but I was worthless. This was as my meningitis was fading a bit. But, the pneumonia was just starting. When I got back to my hotel room before I was going to head home the next morning, I got scared. I drove to what I thought was a seedy looking pharmacy to buy an oxygen tank. I passed it up since I didn't think they'd have it and it just didn't look good (it closed later). So, I went back to my room thinking that I might not wake up in the morning and that my wife would have to cross state lines to get my body back.

I was pretty much a train wreck for about 3 weeks. My wife got the flu part from me, but we were pro-active with an antibiotic so it wasn't so bad for her when we drove 800 miles to Chicago to get a puppy who, sadly, just passed away in January.

I'm on strong anti-seizure drugs. They are extended release too. I accidentally took a double dose and was throwing up constantly, I was light headed, had blurry vision, was off balance and peeing myself for 24 hours bc I had to wait for the drugs to get out of my system. I because so dehydrated that my husband at the time had to take me to the hospital.

I've had quite a few bad virus/colds but honestly the morning sickness i experienced with 3 of my pregnancies was soo much worse than any virus/cold. It felt like mixing the worst stomach virus ever with being hungover from a night of blackout drinking but it goes on for 20 weeks long. Puking, being nauseous, can't hold down food/water, dizzy spells, fainting, not being able to rest. It for real felt like death 💀

Years ago, similar symptoms, diarrhea too. My girlfriend thought it was norovirus. A week later, she had it.
There was another time when i wished i was dead because of what was probably gas; unbelievable pain in my abdomen. I actually considered stabbing myself to get it out. Ell oh ell! I didn’t really sleep for over a day because the pain was so bad.

Well there was a time I had a fever and was throwing up so badly that I threw up all the liquid in my body that could be expelled to the point that whenever my body tried to throw up it was just dry heaving.

I was also deathly dehydrated so I had to be put into the ER and put on an IV.

Definitely felt like death at the time.

I've never thought I was going to die from being sick, tbh. 😅

The only time I remember feeling that way is when I developed small ovarian cysts. I was having bad pain for a long time that didn't seem to get better and I became very paranoid about what I ate (I was afraid to eat anything at the time) and I kept reading horror stories about ovarian cysts on the web. Just scaring myself, but it finally got better after I had my next period.

For me it was back in my late teens. I caught some kind of infectious disease. I had a temperature of over 104 for close to 2 weeks. The doctors told my parents that alone should have ended my life. I lost about 3 weeks of my life that summer.

My mental state was very poor for an incredibly long time, to the point I couldn't fall asleep without calling someone and other weird shit to get out of my head.

One morning I woke up, physically unable to move my body for what felt like eternity. It scared the shit out of me and I was convinced I'd die there and then... Though lucky me, I ended up in a panic attack which made me drop out of the bed, so win for me cause at least I found out I could still move lmfao XDDD

Not sick. Injured. Both arms broken and 3 broken ribs. Had to walk 25 miles out of a combat zone in a mountainous region. Alone. It was an experience in testing the limits of my determination over 3 days.

The only time I felt like I was going to die was after coming out of my gallbladder surgery I had drug induced sleep apnea. So everytime I fell asleep I would stop breathing and then wake up frantically. The nurse said that the oxygen tube in my nose was good enough to keep me oxygenated while sleeping. Needless to say, but that was the longest most terrifying battle against sleep in my life.

About 3 years ago. When I got out of surgery they put me in ICU but I was only there for like 24 hrs. It makes me wonder if I was that bad off. Because I always thought the ICU was only for people in really bad shape. But again I was only there for 24 hrs. I'll admit I was dealing with a lot of things at that time.
