Do you know anyone who has gotten psychosis from smoking weed a lot?

Apparently it's quite common. My mom is a nurse and she said she sees this quite often mostly it happens to young men.

It happened to one of my neighbors and now she's found religion and she's very concerned about keeping other people from using drugs now. Apparently she has to keep taking anti psychotic medication now so it's probably serious.

I don't know why it wouldn't cause psychicosis because it has THC in it along with other chemicals. Most people who smoke pot have been doing so since their early teenage years and never stop way into their adulthood.

Back in the 60's when Marijuana was everywhere and everyone was smoking it, it was pure and wasn't laced with chemicals. Now it's different and the added chemicals are causing people to turn psychotic.

I wish they had a choice to smoke the pure Marijuana or the kind with the chemicals in it.

It would be interesting to see how many 🤔 would choose the pure stuff we had because you could get really high from the pure stuff.

This example is as hilarious as it is sad, and yes, in medico-social sector you won't see THC as being harmless per se, because psychoactive substances can trigger people who are subject to psychosis. Stressing the word trigger here, THC does not create psychosis, it's revealing it instead

Someone might not know that they have a mental health issue until it's too late so to them it's the same thing as if the drug made them psychotic.

Oh yes, especially in the case of psychosis, no one expects it to explode at one's face, we all expect the good old depression instead.

I have been smoking weed for almost as long as you have been alive and so has most of my friends. I have known a lot of weed smokers over the years, hundreds. The only people that get some kind of psychosis have an underlying mental condition that is exacerbated, aggravated, or triggered by smoking weed.

The state i live in cannabis has been legal for a few years. The instances of psychosis has been on the rise ever since. So has the incidence of cannabis hyperemesis syndrome. Which is severe vomiting and stomach pain caused by long term use.

I smoked weed for 30 years and knew lots of people who did. Even today, I know lots of upstanding citizens with professional careers who smoke. I never heard of it causing psychosis.

Ah.. the raw gritty, knock-you-on-your-arse strains. None of this lab-tested diluted man made stuff of today. The bugs and fungus is what killed off the psychosis.

I don't, but I have also read the medical news that these cases have been increasing for years. Apparently, the problem is that today's cannabis is much stronger than the old 1960s weed.
