i don't know if the idea of a gay gene is crazy or obvious? but it could be so the breakthroughs in editing could do wonders for stuff like addiction and even more serious illnesses where specific gene targeting has been stumped. i don't know why this hasn't been done sooner? maybe it has and they only wanted specific illnesses treated. if the sick people die then they can't make money off of them. that goes the same for old people.

however, i don't think brain surgery is going to be something that people can afford even if the science works.

No, because it's not that simple. Issues like that are congenital - the develop while the baby is still in the womb. Basically, there's a mismatch between the genitalia (your happy parts) and the sexual aspects that develop in the brain (gender identity, sexual orientation). There's a lot of things we do every day that is unnatural. We eat processed food, drive cars, offset cognitive tasks like memory with things like note-taking, boost our ability to communicate with radio waves and the internet, etc. There are countless unnatural things we do.
