it's not the most accurate tool in the world but it's definitely not bullshit either. like if you're within the healthy bmi range, you're extremely unlikely to suffer from health outcomes associated with being underweight or overweight. like you might be fine a little under and over but it certainly will not hurt you to be within the healthy bmi range.

No, body fat percentage is a better indicator. Most bodybuilders are healthy and have low body fat percentage but weigh a lot.
Body fat percentage is best measured in a tank of water.
Body fat for women:
10-13% Essential
14-20% Athletes (VS models)
21-24% Fitness (Aiming for this range)
25-31% Average
>31% Obese
For men:
2-5% Essential
6-13% Athletes
14-17% Fitness
18-24% Average
>25% Obese
