What is your opinion about why some people don't do anything at all to help people who need help and others don't give it a second thought and help?

Numerous times I have come up on someone who needed help. Either a car accident, a hurt bleeding child, a heart attack victim, a deaf mute man with no legs sitting in a wheelchair in distress because the nurses forgot to give him his lifesaving diabetic medications to take home with him; or a man walking to the park with his newborn child cradled in his arms with 2 Doberman dogs just dying to get his baby from him. The only thing between them was a wireless electric fence. Scary huh? But I gave him a ride in my car and safely delivered them to the park where his family was wondering what took him so long.
These are just a few examples of things that I walked into and without giving it a thought, I helped these people without any training, just my instincts, while other people just stood around doing NOTHING to help another human being.
I don't get it. Maybe 🤔 you can help me make sense of this behavior.

Humans are complete idiots. Some were raised in treating others with respect without needing it back as we should (unless that is proven wrong by their actions)

Others are never going to help anyone based on their upbringing or their treatment as they were younger.

I've been a helping person since I was a little girl. No one taught me I just jump in without thinking about it.

So, I hope that these people who don't help people who need it don't ask for help when they need it! 🥺

That's a great question. During my brief appearance at college, in philosophy class we read the book titled "Lest innocent blood be spilt." A true account of a town in France during WW 2 that harbored and saved as many Jews as they could while a neighboring would not.

We were asked the same question and the bottom line for me is just how ones heart is. All is choice. Some choose fear. Some choose love.

I do a cost benefit/liability analysis.

Most of the time I help, the only time I don't is when helping could land me in jail or sued. There are stories of people helping only to later be charged with and proved innocent, of things like sexual assault.
