I've been wanting to get my tubes tied for a bit now. Disregard my age please. Some people seem to think I'm crazy for asking simply because of my age. I'm a person too, I deserve answers ❤️
m 4 moWell, Zero, you're not crazy, you're utterly determined for reasons I can't guess. It isn't possible to disregard your age, and I hope it isn't possible for a surgeon to disregard it either. Because surgery is an invasive and almost permanent answer to a birth control problem easily solved by an implant

Oh yes, I have a nexplanon implant in my arm
- 4 mo
Then I don't really understand why it's not enough for you?
- 4 mo
Because it's not. I'd rather be infertile
- 4 mo
Okay, but you are infertile as long as you're using an implant, so what is still bothering you?

i know you asked for us to ignore your age, but we really can't. at 18 you're not mature and grown enough to make that kind of serious decision. you could very much regret it, there's a high chance you will. you should wait until you're at the very least 21, but ideally it's a kind of decision you should be about 25 to be able to make seriously. just go on birth control for now, and if you still want it in a couple years, then you can try to go for it, though it's unlikely to work out for you. because to get sterilized you'd need to go see a regular doctor or a gynecologist and they would have to green light it and send you over to a specialist doctor who perfoms those procedures. even though it's legal, they rarely allow young women under 30 without children to get those procedures. the chance of an 18yo healthy girl getting approved is quasi none existent. generally it's like 35yo women with 3 children already under the belt who get approved for those things.

Maturity has nothing to do with it. There is no difference between an 18 yr vs a 35 yr old making a decision. Me making the decision to not have children is a mature thing. People younger than me have children.
You can’t really ignore the age tho. I would look into other options to prevent pregnancy until you’re a bit older. I know a few people that were your age and never wanted kids, they got the procedure done around 30. No regrets. I also know a few people that were adamant that they never wanted to be a mom, said they’d regret having children, and then changed their mind later. You don’t know how you’ll feel 5-10 years from now, no need to rush on a permanent decision like that

I'd rather regret not having children than regret having them. If I were to have a child, It would NOT be born from my body. I would want to use a surrogate. Genetically my child, but Im not willing to sacrifice my health.
- 4 mo
We do. I'd much rather be infertile
4 moYou are only 18 years old. You feel this way now. But the day may come when you will feel differently. You may meet someone terrific and marry him, and then decide maybe you were a bit hasty in making that decision all those years ago, and maybe you REALLY WOULD like to have children after all. But reversing tied tubes after a period of years isn't always successful. Don't foreclose your options so early!

I already found my soul mate. I'd also rather regret NOT having children than regret having them. I hate children

You hate children? You were a child once. Nobody gets to live in this world without having first been a child. Why do you hate children? Do you even know? I once knew a student nurse - I even dated her - who told me she hated children. Guess what? She not only had a son of her own, but she specialized in pediatrics! I assume a person who hated children would not go into pediatrics! Unless they had some kind of sick desire to harm children, which I'm sure she did not. People can change, CallMe. You may not think so, but I think it's inevitable that over time you will change. Everybody does. None of us who reach maturity, even early middle age, are NOT the same people we were at 18! I cringe to think of some of the things I said and did at 18! Today I look back at some of my past actions and words as just stupid, like, how could I have said that or done that? If you are a normal person, this will happen to you, too. Don't foreclose your options.

Sorry for the bad grammar. I meant to say that none of us who reach even early middle age are the same people we were at 18.

I am already engaged. I don't give a damn about children. I came to this app for useful information. If you can't help trying to put your personal opinion into this then don't comment please. I need answers to my questions

I know I was a child once. That has absolutely no correlation with my opinion. It's just a fact

Don't do it, you would likely regret it, and why he marry you if you don't want children?

Because there is more to life than children. I hate children

You may want to see across the border in Mexico for example where you would probably be able to get a specialist to do it for you. You could possibly also look into vaginal obliteration (colpocleisis) which would solve your problem but also make it impossible for you to have intercourse in the future.
That would probably be the ideal solution for you. - 4 mo

Not likely, I know who my husband is and what he's like. Him leaving me because of lack of sex is immature.
Just keep calling around to doctors until you find one that will do it

How so my friend. I'm being mature in the sense of trying to avoid teen pregnancy. Maybe even forever. People warn us that a child will ruin our lives, why does it "automatically" change to "when are you giving me grandchildren" as soon as they hit 20 if a child ruins lives.
- 4 mo
A child can "ruin" the life of a single mom. But that's within your control. Don't have sex with a guy who will not commit to you! Single-momhood is a full-time job with no salary and no vacations. And there's only one foolproof birth control method: It's called an aspirin tablet. The woman holds the aspirin tablet between her knee! Works every time! In other words, don't have sex with a guy who isn't committed to you. Know what that means? You have a ring and a wedding date! Nothing less!
But that's NOT the same thing as having children within the framework of an intact, loving marriage, with a guy who truly loves you and is committed to you, and will take care of his family. Then a child DOES NOT ruin lives! Saying, "I don't want children because I want to be free to do what I want," that's adolescent selfishness. Do that while you're young and single. But a whole life without responsibility? Remember this: The VERY FIRST commandment in the Bible is to have children! It says, "Go forth and multiply." Our Creator meant us to get married and have children. - 4 mo
@Keyboardkat I'm not religious at all, I don't care what your Bible has to say. A child would ruin my life because I hate brats. I am already engaged to a wonderful guy and he loves me deeply. If you're not going to give me information I'm looking for then don't comment in my comment section. Considering all your doing is giving personal opinion rather than information I'm looking for.
- 4 mo
That's okay. I am allowed to give my personal opinion, and you have no right to censor me. And then you can do what you want. But I see that you at 18 already know EVERYTHING and have nothing to learn from anyone else! That kind of inellectual arrogance is, again typical of people your age. Living live will beat that out of you sooner or later. And by the way, I 100% categorically deny your implication that all children are brats. If a child is a brat, that's on the parents.
