If you have bad eyesight, do you honestly prefer glasses or contacts, and why?

Contacts seem uncomfortable to me. So, I'm sticking to glasses even though I hate wearing them.🙄

I had cataracts surgery in 2018 when I was 55. After almost 50 years of having to wear glasses almost every single waking moment, I don't need prescription glasses anymore. Now, I just wear cheap readers when I have to. I don't have to worry about breaking my glasses, losing my glasses, having to shell out hundreds of dollars for new glasses when my prescription changes...
So much better now. And, of course, the world became brighter and white was actually white again which shocked the shit out of me right after I had the surgery.

Yes, glasses are definitely an extra expense. I wish I didn't have to worry about it.

I've never tried contacts I don't think I would like them

But there are eye tricks that I do that have really helped and I don't wear my glasses as much

And if I did those tricks every single day like I should be doing I don't think I would even have to wear glasses I think sometimes It's like people that smoke they have to have that cigarette in their hand And it's just like I feel maybe sometimes I put on the glasses when I shouldn't It's just a habit almost But what I really need to see I really need to see LOL

I look long distance and just hold it there for a minute and then I come right back to my finger right in front of my face I do that for about 10 minutes a day and I look side to side I try to get as much blood as I can in the back of my eyes by either putting my head down doing push-ups or something and try to keep my eyes wet

Even massaging your head and your face like I said to get the blood back in your vessels behind the eye cuz they all dry out and shrivel up shrink so I think if you keep an oxygen back there you don't like breathing through your nose and just exercise your eyes it's a muscle

I wore contacts for 23 years then I had Lazer , I dispose glasses especially with an active sporting lifestyle..

Having said that my nephew represented Australia in Iron man , and he has never worn contacts or had corrective work , just copes , so it depends on the Individual.

How was your experience with LASIK (or laser)?

Yeah Lazer not Lasik was just incredible, I carried around a referral for 10 years , then I was playing golf in a group ( 4 ) only to discover I was the only one who had NOT done it.. so I thought " fook it " I'm going..
Had to do it in 2 sittings , left eye one week , then right eye next week.
I just couldn't believe how good it was..

Driven also by the fact that Tiger Woods had it done and his script was similar to mine..

But one more zap? I'd love to , 18 years down the track !

Oh yes , well aware of its existence, I was advised by all I asked ( eye specialists ) to do the other one.
Anyhow it was awesome , but nearly 20 years old now..
I'm sure even better is available..

I understand. This is something that nobody should do without seeing an specialist.
I think about doing it every now and then. I'm a bit concerned about the possible side effects.
Yes, there are other procedures now.

I wore glasses for 20 years (age 10 to 30) and then. I had to switch to contacts. Unfortunately, I don't have a choice. My eyesight isn't great.

Unfortunately, my optometrist gave me no choice, glasses were the best option for me. I have chronic dry eyes and astigmatism, so he advised me against wearing contacts. He was even against LASIK.

My glasses and I are together for life
