Especially whenever I’m brushing up against french high society at a work function


i’m wearing the suit, drinking the champagne, but it’s not who I really am underneath


I enjoy the feeling but it never feels real. It’s always as though I’m someone else

For sure. I think it's prob because it's hard to believe sometimes what you're capable of and then when someone, many times an employer trusts you with such large responsibilities, that it feels like you can't be qualified lol.

I’ve felt out of place a thousand times. But I’ve never done the impostor thing. I just admit I’m out of my depth up front and ask for help. I get it nearly every time. I’ve found that people like to demonstrate their own competence and they like to feel they are helping.

LOL, I’ve spent a lifetime diving in over my head in situations where everyone else was taking a step back. That gets you respect when you’re willing to go where there is no script and find ways to make things happen.

Risk tolerance my friend. Just because you don’t know or it’s never been done before doesn’t mean you don’t try. Surrounding yourself with the right people can be crucial in these situations.

I absolutely agree. a lot of people do not quite understand how important it is to step out of one's comfort zone and step into the unknown. It's is imperative for evolving into better versions of oneself and rather than be feared, it should be embraced with boldness. And unless you try you'll never know. And honestly the worst thing that can happen is hitting rock bottom if it goes wrong, and once you reach that point there's only one way right? And that is a slow climb back up just to try again.

When I was 26, I got handed an amazing job opportunity with an auto insurance company.
I had to cut my long, rock star hair and wear a suit.
Up until then, I was into surfing, playing lead guitar and singing rock music in garage bands, going to rock concerts, smoking weed, and partying. I was still acting like a kid.

With my new look, I didn't recognize myself in the mirror. I looked like a narc to the kind of people I used to fit in with.
On the other hand, I felt like an imposter in the business world. I was sure that people in Century City and at work were looking at me like an alien. It was all in my mind, of course.

I eventually got used to my new persona. Associating with grown ups and being responsible forced me to grow up.

Ohhhh so so many times , multiple times in sport with like WTF , here I am , same in serious employment positions , public speaking scenarios.. seriously so many times , even recent employment comebacks , but you know.. it always just worked itself out.

Yes, a couple of years ago I went to a Christmas party that my supervisor's supervisor strongly hinted he wanted me to go to because he thought not many people would show up. So I went and #1 attendance was fine and, more importantly, #2 I was the only only in the room not a Doctor.

Lol. Yes. I'm a high school drop out that some how worked 20+ years in Finance in a job that requires college degrees. I went to work down town in center city in billion dollar high rises to work with cunts in important jobs in international companies. It was all fake and gay. Feeling fake in bullshit trash companies is normal. All those bullshit companies are nothing if you pull you 401k out of jew hands and self manage
