Would you ever use assisted suicide/?

Question

In Canada assisted suicide has been legal for the last ten years. Now there are advertisements for suicide that makes it look like you are going on a nice vacation. I suppose with Canada's socialized medicine they are signing up quite a few people. Would you ever do this?

It's interesting that the assisted suicide debate in the UK centers around religion, morality, ethics, and personal choice, but answers tothis question shows in the USA It's down to left v right.

I can understand why people opt for it because of medical conditions and I support their right to freely choose. But it should never be pushed as an option. I don't want to see hospitals pushing it to free up beds, governments to reduce the pension bill, or kids to get the inheritance faster. It's easy to see how it could develop into being "the right thing to do" with society frowning upon people in the street who selfishly cling to life despite being over 60 or having a limp.

So yes I'd use it but it would have to be the last option and my choice.

I have been in excruciating pain once that lasted for many years. There were times I just wanted it to stop.

When a person is living in excruciating pain day in and day out for a long time, yes, just getting it over with once and for good sounds enticing for sure.

There were times I was in such horrible pain that I probably might have used it.

But I have a son to take care of, so I couldn't do it.

ANYBODY WHO ANSWERS YES TO THIS HAS PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES MAKING THEM SUICIDAL. If you answer yes, you are suicidal and need assistance from a therapist. It is never too late to get help. It is only too late when you give up on yourself and resort to extreme measures. Don't let this happen to you. If you have depression or any psychological disorder causing suicidal thoughts, you need treatment.

Personally, I’d only consider it in an extreme situation involving unbearable suffering and a terminal condition, with proper medical guidance. It’s a deeply serious decision, not something I’d take lightly. ❤️

I might. If I was severely damaged, unable to care for myself, and old enough to say I've lived a good life, I might consider assisted suicide.

Everyone dies. The question is whether we have the right to decide when.
