When you started golf, did you hit far/straight?

i didn't exactly start, but I've went to the driving range like about 10 times.

i hit straight, but it doesn't go far :(

it could be because I'm using the 9 iron...or it could be because I'm doing my swing wrong or it could be both

i don't wanna be alone! did everyone suck like this? boyfriend tries to teach me how to swing, but its so hard to get use to it and eventually he just gives up :(

i actually played a bit of golf a month ago for the first time with my boyfriend. I didn't know how to hit or anything, felt so embarrassed :( But then my boyfriend has been playing since he was a kid and it takes a while to get better at a sport so don't get your hopes up. My boyfriend told me to always make sure before I hit the ball that I'm in a comfortable position. I haven't played since but I'm looking forward to my next game to improve.

yea I know we need practice...but they make us look so bad! they go over 200 yrds and I can't even do close to 100

i hit in a comfortable position and I suck. I tried the proper way and I got scared id hit myself ha ha bummer

I played golf one year in high school. I pretty much missed all the time. I hardly ever hit the ball straight, but sometimes it went pretty far.

well like anything it takes pratice, and 10 trips to the range isint gonna cut it. first of all irons are made to drive a ball stright and low for short to medium distances. If you want to drive a ball far get a "driver" and learn how to swing it. put your whole body into it, but don't over rotate your hips. Keep praticeing, and get a driver!

ive been using bfs clubs! the irons are the shortest lol :(

he yells at me when I use the driver or hybrid...cuase I keep digging/hitting it into the grass, when its not meant to do that lol ITS TOO DAMN LONG THOUGH! I can't control it :(

its hard to practice when I don't have the proper clubs for my height...but the youth clubs look so lame!

HAHA, yeah I started with youth clubs (actually woman clubs at age 13) hahaha. I learned the best way to learn is to teach yourself. the great singers didn`t take lessons, they taught themselves. Its very relaxing as well when your by your self at a driving range for a little while. here's some tips, keep feet sholder width apart and if the club is too long step back a foot or so. but DO NOT lean foreward. the best way to learn to drive is to start with putting and work your way up. hope it helps

i was told I had to bend my knees and lean foward/stick my ass in the air ha ha then make a Y with the club and swing back till I get the L and **** that damn wrist.

golf is so complicated! everyone has different tips :( I'm confuseddd

he made me roll the ball into the hole so I know my strength first! then he let me use the putter. up the hill was a bitch lol

HAHAHAHAHA! that's awesome, I just laughed trying to imanige it. yes bind your knees, but everything else NO! the club should be in a swift and clean motion all the way through the swing, not jerky or anything. and "stick your butt out" that's baseball, not golfing. has your boyfriend ever golfed a day in his life?

hes been golfing for a while, the range and the course. he had a personal trainer too! he still can't hit straight lol

and omg at the jerking part! he yelled at me because I was swinging too slow lol like COMONN! LET ME MEMORIZE ITT! I CANT GET IT THAT FAST hmph

i should probably get some clubs...its only 100s. if I break it, ill have no problem replacing it lol

a phone bill cost more than clubs

haha, yup. and to get a good swing all you need is a good stance, and smooth hit. when you drive a ball 300 yards for your first time you can feel that your whole body just came together and made a smooooth hit. you don`t always have to hit the ball super hard to make it go far, concentrate on accuracy first then distance.

uhhh you're nine iron shouldn't go far at all. Try using a bigger club like a wood or a driver and it will go further.

Oh ha ha well then you probably just need to work on you're swing. The impact point on the ball may not be optimal for the flight of the ball.

Hitting it straight = A+

hitting it long = right club + power practice

Golf is a frustrating religion that requires a coach + many hours + frequency

but

it is a life long, relaxing, healthy satisfying sport w/good friends

I am not too good at golf but the last time I went I had many long and straight shots. I don't know why it happened that time. I sometimes can get good distance but it is not straight at all. My best club I the 5 iron sometims I use it because I know it will be straight.

A 9 iron isn't made for the ball to go far. Use a 2 iron & then try woods.

I started & finished playing golf horribly!
