Techniques for losing some serious weight?

I know that I'm overweight and the said thing is I'm starting to just accept it. I mean I'm getting into a rut where I feel like I'm so far gone and its pointless. I want lose at least 65 lbs. Trust me when I say this is not too much for me and my age. I'm hesitant to even go to the doctor anymore because I get weighed every time I go and it only sends my doc into a tizzy about dieting, whilst I dive head first into a week of depression. What's a girl to do? Can you share so tips for weight lose?

Thanks guys and dolls. I love this info and will have a hard time deciding which is the best because let's face it, It was all helpful and nice. I have a raging headache so I haven't gotten to reading the new stuff but I will in the morning.
