Is getting a contraceptive implant painful?

Is it worth getting considering the side effects?

my best friend has it - she said it was pretty painless - she hasn't had protected sex for years; the contraceptive keeps her pretty protected on it's own without the condom.

She didn't gain weight or feel sick;

Just every now and then she gets random spotting - or a random heavy period, ( which makes sense because eventually the body will react to the hormones via menustration)

Other than that - she was more healthy then I was on the pill lol

Well, my girlfriend's gyno inserted it like, a second after injecting the local, so while it wasn't unbearable, it could have been less painful.

She hasn't had any negative side effects, unless you consider near-elimination of her period to be a negative side effect. My girlfriend considers it a bonus.

She used to have really bad periods, too. Like, curled up on the kitchen floor in the fetal position bad. Things are much better this way.

Yeah I also heard it was pretty painless when My ex got hers in her arm.
