Is removing an IUD less painful than inserting?

I got my Mirena IUD in March 2020, I know in 2 years I need to have it removed and replaced but I am kak scared because it took an hour to insert and I passed out cold on the table and spent a week vomiting afterwards from the pain. So ladies who had their IUDs removed, how was it?

For starters, a Mirena hormonal IUD stays in for 5 years. It is just as painful as it was to put it in.

Far less painful, like you wouldn’t believe. I had to be put under general anaesthetic to have mine inserted, since I had a failed attempt at having it inserted while awake due to how painful it was (very sensitive cervix). But even after waking up, I was in agony for 2 months and had to take strong prescription painkillers everyday. But when I had it removed 5 months later, I didn’t need pain killer or anything. It took my doctor 30 seconds to remove it. Just a quick tug with the strings and it’s gone. You feel some pressure relief, but no pain. In my experience anyway.

Oh nooo. Months? That had to be horrible. I hope everything is ok now! I didn't have that much problems at all, the first few days felt bad and painful and I thought I had it bad already.🥺

Yes far less painfull but I would still never do it again without anesthesia its still super uncomfortable even though less than inserting. Also it was much quicker.
