Braces question!?!?!?!

what type of braces did you have?

what did you need corrected?

How long did you have them on?

what age did you get them put on?

Did you like the results?

Did you have to have any tooth extractions/jaw surgery etc along with it? if so what was that like, how long til your teeth came down, etc?

I had braces for about three and a half years. Like everybody else at the time, I saw an orthodontist who lied and said it would be a year and a half maximum.

This was after I wore a bionator from 3rd grade until 6th grade. The bionator lie was that if I wore it, I would not need braces. When they told me that despite being one of their most loyal bionator wearers ever, I still needed braces, my parents and I rushed for the door. But like said above, the next orthodontist lied, too.

After I got the braces off, I had retainers or other appliances from age 16 or so to 18. I finally got sick of going to the appointments. I said, look, "I didn't wear these things since the last time I saw you, and I am 18 and done with this." I never saw them again.

What are the results? Well, the bionator got rid of the buck teeth I had in elementary school. When I got the braces off as a sophomore in high school, one of my relatives commented "You went through hell, but you have the perfect set of teeth."

I realized that my teeth moved a bit when I didn't wear the retainers. I also knew I did not want to wear something for the rest of my life. At 18, I was a senior in high school, and I was in the 10th year of having some type of crap in my mouth, and I was so done with it. (4+ years of the bionator, 3+ years of braces and 3 years of retainers)

So what's it like now? My bottom front teeth are crowded and a little crooked. They are so tight it's damn near impossible to get floss between them. Meanwhile, my upper teeth have moved back so there is a little additional space. I hate my teeth, and I wish that 10 years of expensive treatment had left me better off than I am now. Regardless, I will never go through that again to get them fixed now, and I am not sorry that I walked away when I did.

I left a dentist who suggested I wear my retainers again and schedule a visit to go back to the orthodontist. I know several others who had a dentist recommend seeing an orthodontist when they were in their 30s (all who originally had braces).

I had no jaw surgery or extractions.

Had braces for 2 years(about). put on age 23. removed 25. My parents did not have money to do it when I was a kid. My teeth were a mess. Had wisdom teeth yanked first, then ortho. Results were good. not a movie star but very good compared to what I had. besides appearance there was bite stuff out of whack. sort of painful but not really bad. ugly with braces, yup, but there ya go. message me if you want. It was expensive also but I paid my way.

I had my braces put on at 13 and just got the tops off this year at 16 (I'm still wearing my bottoms, but no one sees them so it's like I got everything off).

My teeth were for the most part straight, but my bite was bad. I also had a baby tooth on the bottom that wouldn't come out so I had it pulled and then the adult tooth was turned the wrong way so it wouldn't come up (if I didn't have surgery for all this that adult tooth would have made all my other teeth crooked)

The surgery was OK. I had a little nerve damage right after, but it went away for the most part. My tooth still isn't fully up yet, but it's getting better and will hopefully be done soon (I had it done about a year ago).

my teeth were really slow falling out and growing back in. we ended up having to pull 10 baby teeth and then surgically pulling my adult teeth from my gums, I had braces twice, in total for about 6 years. I've had 3 oral surgeries, and a pallet expander as well.

my wisdom teeth also required the extraction of my second molars. lol, I wish I had before and after, my mouth was retarded lol, I had no front teeth for 4 years lol.

I haven't worn them but I am thinking about invisalign... I ave just one crooked (not really but behind the rest of them you know) tooth that I don't like. But I am 20 so I think braces would make me look weird now ha ha I have TMJ though so I should go see a dentist about this thanks for reminding me sorry for this completely irrelevant answer what is wrong with me bed time

i would see an orthodontist if you are interested in invisalign. a lot of dental problems have occurred when people get their dentist to fix problems suited for orthodontists. also if invisalign isn't a possibility for you you can get clear brackets which makes the braces less noticable

I got my braces when I turned 18 and now I am 21 and still wearing them.

I don't mind wearing them at all. No one really cares either.

I had a tooth extraction done in December. The tooth is half way out now. I love to joke about it =)

My jaw surgery sucked but I am so glad that its over now.
