Does anyone know why crab cakes are so expensive?

At a restaurant a tiny crab cake no more than 2 inches across can be around $10. But you can get a pound of crab legs for like $15 and there's like at least 3x the meat. It just never made sense to me.

Can you tell I love crab cakes?

it's because there's a season when the big sea crabs can be caught or they will get over fished and you'll never have crab cakes ever again but only imitation crab cakes. You must also be eating at a fancy restaurant were they also have many overhead costs.

You can also stop going outside to eat it and try making it yourself and eat as mush as you want hehehe.

yeah, I've honestly never had one if I think about it. Maybe because I'm not a huge crab fan.

Because crab season is so short... Supply and demand, makes the price of crab meat go up. Basically all the places crab used to be fished have been over fished and there is not a ton of crab left.

When is crab season? I still don't get the difference in price of the cakes and the legs. It's at the same restaurant.

The only restaurants that serve crab cakes are fancy ass restaurants, everythings expensive.

It's like, caviar; it's f***ing FISH PASTE, but it's really, really dear, because it's part of this whole fancy thing, for the upper-classes and all.
