What's your opinion on braces?

Well I have braces and was just wondering what the opinions were on them. :P

I got them in like February, and it's only been about a week that I haven't had a completely oversensitive mouth. I would eat anything even mildly spicy and it would seep into the middle of my tongue and burn it so much... and I think that's because my braces must have scraped my tongue and made openings for the chemicals to seep through. Luckily I had spicy food today and I wasn't too bad, but it definitely hasn't been long that I've been okay like this.

As for looks, I think they actually make me seem a bit older. I look way too young considering my age. On certain girls it makes them look cuter. On others, it really makes no difference.

My main issue with them is the problems with hygiene. Braces make it so much tougher to clean your teeth well.

I've gotten so used to them that I hardly notice them anymore. People say I look cute with them.

Painful. They hurt so badly when you first get them, then they constantly are slicing the inside of your mouth, so you practically always have two or three canker sores. Then there's the food getting stuck. Though I admit, the results are often worth the pain.

Yeah kinda painful but pain doesn't bother me. And they don't sluce at my mouth and I don't get canker sores...

When I had braces myself- HATED THEM! I had them for 4 years and it was miserable

If you're talking about dating someone with braces- they need to be kept clean. I work in dental and have seen a lot of nasty mouths involving braces. The appearance of them wouldn't turn me off, I understand that they're trying to improve their self-image and make it easier to keep good oral hygiene. Even though they're not attractive, it wouldn't turn me off because I know that they probably hate them too, but are willing to suffer for a better end result.

And as an under 18er, it's pretty common for people in your age group to have braces, so I don't think it will be a big deal with guys and dating.

They're not so bad, really. I had braces for years when I was younger. Headgear, too, but I only had to wear it at night, thank god. I think the end results are worth any pain and annoyance in the meantime.

Really Major Problem...lol...so totally kidding you...I had braces when I was 12 or something...it might not add to sexiness...but it definitely does not detract...cease with your anxiety...Do you really think that some dude that thinks your are hot would be scared off by a little metal on your teeth? eh...who knows...a lot of weird people out there...but no average male is gonna say "boo" to either sex OR a relationship over braces...OK?
