Anyone here gluten intolerant?

Tell me about your experience? how did you learn you had it, what test did you get done? is it expensive? if you lost a lot of weight, how long does it take to regain it back?

I have experienced weight loss and I did myself some tests for a few std and a general blood test and everything is OK, only one known person in my family has it, I have went from more than 140 lbs to 123 and then back to 131 and stayed there, the only other symptoms are skin rashes, and not diarrhea but being a little loose.

I am and I'm dairy intolerant (I found out about both in about a month), I didn't loose any weight because my diet it was low in carbs and dairy or I replaced foods with ones that were low in allergens. Then I kept getting a stomach ache/ flu symptoms (muscle ache, no energy etc..) and I would occasionally get a colorless, itchy bumpy rash over my face and neck, because my aunt is gluten intolerant they did a blood test (not sure what for but it was a level of something) and from that they said I had it, recently I had a DNA test done and I have the same DNA marker thing as someone with celiac disease (which is sever gluten intolerance, when I eat gluten it stops other nutrients from being absorbed in my small intestine). Even if you aren't gluten intolerant you can still go on a gluten free diet to see if you feel better.

can I ask you a question, I was thinking of testing myself for celiac disease. but is it true that the test could show positive, and one be negative for gluten intolerance . what test did you get done? how much did you pay?

I have been gluten intolerant for 3.5 years already. I was suffering with chronic pain since I hit puberty, taking strong pain medication daily, often twice a day. It had been suggested to my mom, about 6 months before me, to go on a gluten free diet, and all of her pain went away. So when it got to the point where I pretty much couldn't function without the meds, she took me off gluten too. Within a couple of days, I didn't feel any pain anymore. Now whenever I get contaminated, my muscles all tense, my joints stiffen and I can barely move for about an hour. I have yet to be tested, as I see no point to it. I already know what's wrong with me.

thanks for your answer, is that common in your family or are you the only known person with this intolerance?

My mom and both my sisters are gluten intolerant, as well. My dad probably is too.

thanks is it true that you need two tests? one for celiac disease and one for gluten intolerance?

I'm not allergic but I just take digestive enzymes...for everything...it helps a little...just make sure you go to a doctor to check it out
