Possible that acne clearing up makes it look worse?

I don't have cystic acne or anything, but I have a patch of small bumps on my forehead. It used to be all one bunch but now they seem more spread out and it actually seems like it has gotten worse.

Are they red or flesh-colored? See a dermatologist about it. You may have the non-inflammatory acne that gets super annoying because it's not super noticeable yet it's still there. You may just need prescription Retin-A or something else that encourages cell turnover/exfoliation.

Yes. When your acne is clearing up it can sometimes look worse because your spots will go red and bigger but then eventually should fade. If it persists however and doesn't fade then it's time to see a dermatologist cause then it could be more than a breakout.

Acne treatments actually make it get worse before it gets better. It brings what is under the skin to the surface.

Stick with it and you will see improvement in time! :D

Sometimes. This is known as "purging" which is a good thing, getting rid of all acne in one go. However it could also just be the problem getting worse
