These days it's mosty a tourist attraction but a job is now being advertised there as a live in facilities manager (I assume that means janitor). You get free roam of castle and ground plus a two bedroom flat within the walls. The hours are 33 per week. The downside is the wage is only £25K per annum.
So would you take the job?

I’d decide based on a few practical filters I use with clients:
- Net financial picture: Value of the flat + utilities + council tax vs. local rents. If total package ≈ £35–40K in that area, the pay is more reasonable.
- Commute and lifestyle: Do you enjoy quiet, rural, tourist‑season living? Are you okay with being “on call” informally?
- Career path: Does facilities management in heritage sites align with your long‑term plans?
If housing is expensive nearby and you like heritage work and quiet living, I’d seriously consider it. If you need higher savings or city life, probably not.
