Any exercises I can do while from the waist up?
any help will be greatful
dude, so sorry. Hope this isn't too serious and short term.
I screwed up a knee and am just finally getting over about 8 months of crutches and total sh*t.
1) go see a physiotherapist if you can I think a visit will probably cost you about 75-100$. Go see someone registered, who actually knows what they are doing. They are great at targeting muscles and helping to activate muscles post-injury.
2) you need to watch what you eat. I moved a lot less during the time I was limping/on crutches... that means (as you've obviously foreseen) a need to get more conscious about taking care of yourself. I am generally pretty twiggy and had never thought about what I was putting in my mouth before my accident. I didn't have to get too serious about it, but I did start paying more attention.
3) Once you have found exercises you can do, try to integrate them into your routine. I used to do a tone of leg muscle activating exercises at my desk while working, while brushing teeth or blow-drying hair. It is way easier to do more of these if they are not only being done during a set "workout period"
4) also, depending on the state of your leg, I was told almost immediately to start activating it... just flexing my toes (as in point then push heel out as you would to press on the gas). Obviously I do not know your condition, but lifting the whole leg from the hip, can be done too if you can keep it straight. I can tell you everything that was recommended to me, but it was a pretty minor kneecap dislocation/bone chipping issue... everything got structurally fixed pretty quickly after I finally got an MRI requisition + scheduling.
5) obviously any arm exercises... sure you can google tones of those.
Firstly, I am sorry to hear you had this accident, sweetie, Hope the healing process will soon enable you to "walk the straight and narrow" again, to sort of speak. But while waiting, being you can't do sit ups, position yourself in a straight chair. Spread both legs to the side, and, reaching from one foot to the other, counting10 times each round, this is good exercise for the waist and tummy. Plus the fact, you are not putting any weight on your "bad leg", and with a sensible diet, you would be able to keep the "fat from forming" more...or lose what you say you have gained. Make this part of your daily regimen periodically during the day while even watching TV. And who knows..You may end up thanking your "baby toe" for his small help.:)) Take care.xx
I'm sorry about your accident , there is a few you can do.
If you can lay down, you can do crunches which is only a slight bend of a sit up, I don't know if you can do that.
Another workout is Torso Twists, it works out your hips and a little bit of your lower abs and back.
You can tighten your abs and hold it for as long as you can then do sets of that.
There is only a few with minor movement, sorry.
its OK, thanks for your help

i'm sorry to hear about accidents I have personal experience of leg injuries and imo its better to have a leg or any other injury than a leg cause it makes you dependent on others.
You could do crunches like sitting up halfway when lying down
squeezing your stomach muscles, pelvic muscles -counting to 10 then letting go
PULL UPS! and different variations of are good for everything! Anything will be tricky if your leg hurts, but pull ups are a great option.
Get some very light weights and do free weight movements over your head etc. Or band strength stuff
