Aroldis Chapman from the Reds had an accident during the game last night and got hit with a ball in the face and he ended up in hospital with an ambulance.
Did you have any sports injury or got involved in a big accident and what was the damage, how did you end up?

I used to play semipro football, and my first couple of years i played a little tight end. One day in practice i caught a pass with a big hit coming. Since the defense was playing zone i knew that there would probably be someone waiting to clean my clock, so i made the catch and sort of "sat down" to brace for the shot. I saw the kid coming, so i rolled with the hit and kind of ended up balled up and my feet kept him off of me and sort of threw him past me. Picture a movie fight scene where Guy 1 tries to take down Guy 2, but Guy 2 rolls backwards and uses Guy 1's momentum against him and pulls him over him and to the floor, it was kind of like that.

Anyway, long story short, when i was balled up and my teammate's weight balled me up past the normal range, i felt a *POP* in my ribs. I stood up and lined back up to run the play again but had to drop to a knee from the pain. I played a few more plays then practice ended. It still hurt two days later so i went to the doctor and they took X-rays and found that my 2nd and 3rd (from the bottom) ribs on my left side had detached from my sternum, basically the cartilage broke. They gave me vicodin and sent me on my way.

Months later when the swelling subsided I found that there's a noticeable dent in my ribcage. I was seeing an orthopedic surgeon a year later for a broken hand and brought it up to him. He referred me to the Chief of Surgery at the local hospital, who would tell me that he didn't think it was quite deep enough to need surgery, and that my internal organs had probably shifted to accommodate the deformity, which is... comforting.

I mean, it hurts sometimes, and if I take a real deep breath with my arms over my head I get a sharp pain. But 99% of the time its OK.

my first and so far only time sleep walking I fell 13 stories from my apartment balcony. I fell through a tree and landed in the mulch/soil beneath it (lucky since more the ground below was concrete). I woke up in the ICU heavily medicated and sedated.

I was extremely lucky (obviously) fracturing all the bones in the lower half of my body (tibias, knees, and femurs) but only had a few scratches above my waist. I spent about 2 months in the hospital and then another 5-6months doing daily physical therapy. But I'm more or less fine now. I can walk with no problem however running is a bit difficult. I also don't have nearly as much flexibility in my leagues as I used to

OMG! That's awful. You must be a very lucky men from surviving such an incident. Congrats!

yeah I am definitely lucky. It was a pretty traumatic thing to go through, but it definitely makes you appreciate even the most boring and dull aspects of life

Sweet fancy Moses, thats terrible! Glad you made it out relatively ok. You're lucky you're not dead or in a wheelchair, 13 stories is no joke.

definitely lucky... lucky I'm not dead, in a wheelchair, paralyzed, suffered brain damage, etc, etc.

The list is pretty extensive for me not sure if I was accident prone or something else but I've had about two sports related injuries funny enough I wasn't even playing I was just sitting on the side lines first one was when I was about 5 I got hit in the face with a muddy soccer ball the hit didn't hurt just all the rocks and dirt that went in my eyes
the second was when I was 13 I was reading a book and a baseball came flying out of nowhere and hit me in the mouth the hurt like a mother******

I was in a car accident about a year ago. The car was destroyed lol.
But I had severe whiplash and now I have a huge scar on my chest. For a month my knees were black and sore all of the time, and now they get sore and achey from time to time.

The most I had happen to me was getting hit in the face by my brother with what I thought was a snowball. Instead, it was a snow ball with a chunk of ice in it. He threw it at me and hit me in the face. The ice chunk busted my lip and I was bleeding.

I've been knocked out playing rugby a couple of times. Once the guys foot who I was trying to tackle hit my jaw/ mouth and ended up putting me asleep for 30 seconds woke up with a wobbly tooth and blood everywhere.

No I was hit by a car 20 years back. I'm as good as I can be considering I wasn't supposed to live.
