Does anyone feel like exploring someone else's music when you already have your favorite Playlist?

My friends don't have the same music taste as me, and they end up playing their same playlist. I enjoy listening to their stuff, but I like finding new music in general. It's a feature on Spotify that lets people collide each other's playlist and add a few based on both people. I like to do it with strangers who are interested because no one listens to my music, so I can't really talk about it.

I like to peek at my friends’ playlists, it gives me a little insight into where their heads go with music. I’m a maladaptive daydreamer with daydreams triggered by music so a lot of mine caters to that, I like to hear what my other friends have going on in their heads

That's part of the reason my collection is so huge. In Jr. High School, a friend of mine, Vince Beatty, knew I was interested in electronic music and gave me his copy of "Ummagumma" to listen to. At first, I hated it! But, SOMETHING interested me so, I recorded it to cassette and listened to it several times, each time, I liked it more! Now that I have all of Pink Floyd's records, as far as I'm concerned, that was the best album they ever did!! Up to the point of Vince lending me that album, I'd never even heard of Pink Floyd before!! "Dark Side Of The Moon" wouldn't show up for another 4 years.

2 years later, I got into high school and met Albert Pantone (his dad was the mayor of his town, the one next to mine) and I went to his house one day looking through his records and he insisted I borrow his collection of Uriah Heep albums. Again, I'd never heard of them, before. I took them home, recorded them, listened to them and ended up liking them! Although, not enough to go out and buy all the records they made. He also suggested I'd like The Firesign Theatre so, I borrowed all the ones he had at that point and loved them! Now, I have nearly all of their albums. In fact, I gave him the money to buy some of them for me!

About 8 years later, I joined a band as drummer and their two lead people were very much into Capt. Beefheart & His Magic Band. I heard some of his music a time or two before meeting them and HATED IT!! It sounded like a bunch of people with no talent at all walked into a studio, picked up whatever instrument was handy and played anything, no matter how badly it sounded!! But, my singer and guitarist told me that they actually WRITE the music to sound that way!! Ooooh!!! I listened again and quickly became of fan because if they can play that stuff intentionally, note perfect each time, they MUST be REALLY great musicians!! Within a year, my guitarist, John, (who called himself, Beefheart, because he was such a huge fan of the Captain's music) told my singer, Bob, that I understand Capt. Beefheart's music even better than he did!! Again, I have all of their records, including a few that John never had!!

Several times, I'd buy someone's entire collection not knowing most of what was in it and find some great records I'd never heard of, before!!

There's LOADS of REALLY GREAT music out there that hardly anyone even knows exists, mostly because radio never bothered to play any of it!! That's why I'd LOVE to get a radio show where I just play all sorts of off-the-wall, and, mostly, unknown and uncharted stuff to LET people know what's out there!! They have no idea what they're missing!! Sadly, quite a few people just don't care and prefer to stay in their tiny little bubbles!!

I've got over 62,000 in my collection, a few thousand I still haven't heard yet so, if you wanna listen to something new (to you), let me know. My neighbor's got 36,000 more!!
