Mine is If We make it through December by Merle Haggard, because it is actually a legitimate issue many face at Christmas time. It's not sappy like The Christmas Shoes but is actually realistic.
When I first started working at the Medical Examiner's office in Ocala, Fla., I was shocked be the number of suicides that occurred between Thanksgiving and New Years. People are just hanging on expecting a visit and many times it does not happen.

Yes, this is a real tear jerker. Merle Haggard was legit.

The saddest Christmas song I ever heard was The Christmas Shoes. Dadgum! That song hit me hard when I first heard it. I can sing it now without crying, but the story it tells is so sad and heartwarming!
