Yeah, when I worked at strip clubs we'd have people come in, dump tons of money, and know they were going to be eyeing that rope, gun or pills at the end of the night. Tended to start up around Thanksgiving and level off around New Years.
It's kind of obvious because it's generally real slow in the clubs around then, every year we'd have a couple less regulars coming in the next year. I mean, I don't know what their family situation was, but I know very very few of them had a wife or kids who were regulars.
The ones who came in and dumped 5 figures in a night while drunk might not have a wife and kids come morning either, "I was shit faced" won't reverse the credit card charges.
Not everyone is the same though, some sprint through that endurance race and don't feel like they're missing out on anything. Or at least they don't show it. I knew one guy who was in his 70s, only family he had he walked out on, and was swapping through women as fast as he could, always flying solo. He wasn't sad about it until the day he died.
I think down deep it could but it depends on who that person is 9 months ago I lost my father I lost my mother
My sister was always a raging b**** she is finally changed a little bit I do have my kids ones in a different state the other one is here he just had a baby but he's going to have a Christmas with his girlfriend and his baby which I understand that I respect that
I could say that I'm all alone but I've never been alone even when I had people around me because that's just who I am I believe in many many things
For me Ilove Christmas because it's a time of giving
And for me it doesn't matter who you give to
I'll go to the store load up a bunch of bread peanut butter jelly some chips some soda some coffee and get it prepared and then I'll go down to where all the homeless people hang out or just drive down the road until I see some tents set up someplace and I'll stop and I'll give them some sandwiches and chips and coffee and cola it's just a moment in time to say thank you and hope your day is a better day
My friend had an uncle that committed suicide on Christmas Eve cause he was mourning social isolation and possible financial need. I would remind anybody who is sad or poor to count the blessings they still have. If you don’t have a family of your own, you have coffee, a place to live, access to internet and a working toiletin your home. And chances are your life is a fairytale fantasy compared to people in third world countries who cannot afford to eat. And each day you live, you have a chance to build and add to your life.
Whenever you have some issue in your life such as I don't have a family at Christmas, you should seek out others who need your help, and spend your time there. The rewards to you will be much greater than the effort you put in, you'll be focusing on something other than yourself, and your loneliness will disappear.

I'm sure it can definitely be lonely.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you.
Yes, I loved the holidays with my family untill I no longer had one now I become extremely depressed
Christmas time can have both positive and negative effects on people who don't have families. While it can be a time of sadness and longing, it can also be an opportunity to connect with others and find comfort in shared experience. Some studies suggest that mental health issues may decrease during the holiday season.
It probably depends on the person. Some are ok with it and are unbothered but others are probably reminded of what they wish they had.
Or friends. Of course it does, any holiday does that you know your by yourself while others are with people.
Maybe. Doesn't affect me though
It makes it hard on us jews, because christians think EVERYONE is christian and that everyone on earth, celebrates Christmas.
I'm Jewish, GET THE FUCK OVER IT, TRUMPLICANS
Only if they wallow in that. There homeless shelters etc. There's no limit amount of people suffering and need help in this world. And the best way to get out of a funk like that is to help somebody else.
Not only Christmas, but every event held with families gives some sadness to lonely people.
@liaraven maybe
