Where were you 25 years ago, on New Year's Eve 1999?

I was at my great aunt's house praying on my knees that the world wasn't about to come to an end. She was super religious so I had no choice. I was only 7 years old.

I was at home, alone, as my mentally ill wife had abandoned me and loved away. We ultimately fivorced, she noved in with her sister, her sister died, and my ex married her brother-in-law one week after her sister died. My ex died last year. It's all a quite bizarre story!

I was probably in bed before midnight because I had an early flight the next morning. I knew someone who thought I was nuts for flying on Y2K day. I wasn't concerned at all about that. I just hoped the pilot was also in bed early instead of partying past midnight.

People were worried about chaos with the possibility of all computerized things going down due to Y2K. I didn't give it much thought.

It was my third New Year with my wife. We were living in San Pedro, Ca, up the street from Point Fermin on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. I'm not sure, but we might have gone to the New Year's gala at the Queen Mary that year and gone out onto the deck to watch the fireworks at midnight with the orchestra playing.

My company had spent the previous 2 months fixing possible Y2K issues for our customers, which had kept me busy... I wasn't worried.

I was with my parents at a party at someone elses big apartment, I don't remember anymore who it was but it was a nice place and everybody was even more excited than usual because it was the new Millenium. For me I didn't realize fully the importance of the moment cause I was ten and every moment was exciting so... I just was having a good time, like always when my parents took me somewhere, just enjoying the evening. All the adults were definitely feeling it though they would just stop me when I was walking by and say isn't this great or something :). I don't think anything that memorable happened that night cause I have a good memory and I would remember it. I think we just had a good time and went home I think when it was actually the year 2000 I did feel kinda special and happy and uplifted on the ride home but it faded away again and then it was just life as usual again :)

oh no my sister was like this on 666 lmao I was a kid and terrified!!! In 1999 I was four years old so we were probably at my aunt’s house or at Vegas. My parents were obsessed with going to Vegas when I was little and our cousins would take care of us while they have some drinks and gambled 🤣

I was 4 years old, I remember getting under the blanket and watching TV, people were screaming, jumping up and down, everything was flashing, and then they started 10, 9... 1. Then I was watching the fireworks. Then I drank a glass of warm milk and went to sleep.

I threw a very big party on NYE '99 like it was my going away party.

The party was on the large lawn of my parents' house.

20 years later, my husband & I threw another big party to celebrate our return to America.

I was 6 years old. My cousin, my sister, and I actually spent that night at my grandma's house because my parents wanted to have the night to themselves (but they weren't alone, they had my baby brother with them.)
My grandma had bought this yellow plush Year 2000 doll thing that does a countdown and then says something like, "Welcome to the year 2000!" She still has it, but I don't know if it still works. 😄
