I asked him why he didn’t give me any warning, and he replied:

I am personally not in favor of something like that to happen because if he comes over, that would mean that he has not been invited to whatever party is going on.

Just coming over uninvited may hold more than just one bad surprises for him (and you).

1. You could have a Christmas dinner with your family and where other guests are not really welcome.

2. You may have other guests that you personally invited and simply showing up may put a lot of people in a situation that they would have preferred to avoid, mainly if some know that friend and are aware that he was not invited.

I personally would never just show up uninvited to an event because of possible issues such as the ones above.
