I can see myself doing that but in another reality where I don't get any and really want to get some.

I think there's definitely not a time frame one should follow, but their feelings instead. Some people feel ready after a week, some people take years. That being said, I do believe people shouldn't get engaged before they are ready to get married within a year from the engagement.
I would not be comfortable getting engaged that fast. And what's the rush?
If I was sure he would be the one, then a ring won't change that.
We would have our whole lives together no matter if we got engaged and married or not.

Well, I did and although we are very much in love, we have also gone through many rough patches.
So I understand it's a case by case basis.
Three months is pretty darned quick. I don't think you can get to know someone WELL in that short amount of time.
The pundits say you need 60 hours of interpersonal time to get to the level of "friendship." If you're working 8 hours a day and not living together, that means you might see each other three hours every third or fourth evening and maybe four or five hours a day on a Saturday or Sunday AT BEST.
Then there will be weekends or weeks where you won't be able to see each other because of friends or family interaction. So, you see each other every other week and talk on the phone. PHONE ENCOUNTERS DO NOT COUNT. It is in-person, interpersonal time that adds up to friendships.

So, for two employed adults with normal family and social lives. Think about the fact that you go to the gym, church, have hobbies, watch television, maybe play an intsrument, take a dance class, skateboard, surf, garden, see the doctor.
You've had a life before you met this person and though you make time to see them, there's life stuff you've got to do as mundane as washing clothes and cleaning your house and car.
This total comes to 38 hours: not enough to qualifiy this person as a "friend." At least 22 hours short of BASIC friendship time. Twelve weeks is equivalent to three months.
It's true, you can get a romantic whirlwind started in 3 months' time if you spend half of your time in bed. But bed buddies does not a relationship make.
You need to find out if a person is reliable, loyal, warm, consistent, uses money well, keeps a relatively organized home, is a safe driver, is compassionate, generous, genuine. Do you like having conversations with this person. Do you like just being around them, even during silences. Do you fight fairly?
Has any of this come up in three month's time? If it hasn't or you don't know, you might want to see if your beginning friendship will work out past the honeymoon phase.
When you roll past nine months and a year, and you've smelled their bad breath, heard their burps and farts, and waked up to their morning face or greasy hair, THEN you've gotten somewhere.
I think it's a good way to divorce 5 years down the line. Even if you date for longer you can still end up unhappy and divorcing, but if you have been dating longer you have a better chance of knowing if your partner is really the person you want to spend the rest of your literal life with. You can't really get that out of 3-9 months. I don't think.

It kind of depends on how much work you two have put into the relationship in that time. If you know about their fears, their accomplishments, their habits (in the house), and you both are on the same journey together, then I don't see a reason to waste time.

Times really doesn't seem to help as much as people would think. Yet I know several people who were engaged after three months of dating, so six months after their first date they got married and have been married for 25+ years.
I'd have to say, it depends... but adding more time may not necessarily mean it will work out.
I think you should date more, but in practice there r reqlly no rules as all options in practice suceed and fail
In my whole life I have known only two couples who both became engaged after a while and which lasted. Of which one of these he asked her to marry her the first day they met without ever kissing and she agreed. They are still married after 50 years, although he is sadly insane now.
Generally it takes at least 2 or 3 years to get to know a person.
Really depends on the chemistry. Ideally, i’d date a year or two then be engaged for 6 months to a year. But when your biological clock starts to tick, less than a year doesn't sound so bad 😂 not the smartest but not the worst idea either
