For me marriage is spending the rest of my life and building a life with my best friend. Marriage to me is when you're ready to become one with each other by becoming each other's other half of heart. The children part, you don't have to be married to have children with the person you love, but that'll be not only a new part of their lives but an adventure. But as a stated before hand people marry cause they're ready to start a life with their lover who is also their best friend, their other half.

I think marriage is the ultimate way to say I trust you. But for most women it's more like "well if we break up at least I get something" the guy I'm with now is currently going through a divorce and I swear this woman married him simply so he'd take care of her, she used him until I came along. I would love to marry him but after her I don't expect it because that would leave a bad taste in my mouth as well

It has very little to do with love as I see it. I think love is a prerequisite for a happy marriage but if I just loved my wife and that was it, I could have just continued dating her indefinitely. What's the point of marriage if it's just to love each other and enjoy each other's company? For me, it's fundamentally about families and communities.

I think that's the general mindset here in Japan. We don't marry out of love. We date out of love, we become boyfriends and girlfriends out of love. We marry for the sake of families, children, communities.
