+1 yYes, sure. We must distinguish them from forced marriages, though. The two people must have the right to say no.
It can be a good idea for relatives to be involved in arranging the marriage. The young people will be from similar backgrounds and religious beliefs which is a huge plus. The relatives know the couple and are not deluded by fleeting emotions.
There is also some support and social control as the matchmakers continue to feel responsible for their choice.
On balance it is likely preferable to matches made based on chance, following the Western ideal.00 Reply

The problem with modern marriages is among most westerner they really doesn't exist. Modern westerns have been sold the idea that marriage is about mutual pleasure rather than security.
If you have that idea bout marriage you need not the institution, if you have the original idea, whom you marry is far less important.00 Reply
Hopefully they do because not knowing someone can be very difficult you don't know what you will end up with a princess charming or the beast because people don't always show their true nature the time will show it off so its a 50/50 chance a guess

+1 yOf course they can! People like to imagine that relationship have been historically miserable, but most marriages were actually rather pleasant and long lasting.
You see, Western society has assumed that affection is the most important thing in a marriage, and the most important thing in love - really, love (of the genuine sort) is constructed from loyalty, followed by companionship, in pursuit of a similar goal.

+1 yAlthough people see it as the safe option to find a quality partner... It's like gambling... you never know what the person is really like until you're stuck with them, and you also don't know if you'll ever gonna have that special bond with them or it'll be just superficial and everyone is committed just for the benefits... All the couples I know who are in an arranged marriage... None of them is happy lol.. Especially the women, they're broken 😆...
00 ReplyYes they do. Many people give it a bad name by associating it with forced marriage. Arranged marriage is completely different from forced marriage. Its just matchmaking in which the two take their time and make a decision whether they want to get married to each other or not.

That isn't normally the case in my community.
I don't think so. There are biological and psychological reasons couples are attracted to each other. Arranged marriage exclude this partner selection mechanic.

+1 yYeah they can work out great.
People in those relationships are usually forced into putting in the effort to make things work out and because they both put in the effort they are both happy.00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yDepends on where you live. I am from India , the epicenter of arrange marriges. Here they work due to pressure from society and seeing divorce as a huge taboo. Not all arrange marriges are happy. Only very few of them are , most of them are not based on love but security and for raising families.

Often times these are people not brought up in that culture and don’t value the benefits of arranged marriages. Also some believe more in romantic love and believe in an arranged marriage the husband and wife are not in love
