What do you think about newlyweds thinking that all the single people want to get married and trying to guide them?

LOL. Ok, so I don’t think they can help it… either they’re SO happy that they want it to happen for all their friends OR “misery loves company”….


A lot of times close friends or cousins plan to get married around the same time as part of their childhood wedding fantasy so they can make families together, blah blah blah. (Silly, yeah, of course, but as kids it seems charming.)


As we’ll get older and tastes form… paths diverge… and so on, the childish fantasy fades… till one of the friends gets engaged/married and the dopamine from all the sex seems to (re) ignite the “rose colored glasses” perspective of a committed relationship with an SO/spouse.


It’s ok, just bring an extra bottle of wine with you to those dinner parties designed just to connect you with the “new friend” they’re trying to match you with…. And bring your own mode of transportation so you’re not suddenly paired off with this new stranger for a ride home. 🙄😒

None of my friends is married. I have a friend who's engaged and she never tried to convince me to get married. Also, she doesn't brag about being engaged.

I suppose they do that because they cannot accept that we all make our choices and we don't have to do what others do. In most countries nobody is forced to get married, so this shouldn't be a thing.

To me this is the same as judging someone because of their religion or irreligion.

No. I’ve had cousins who were engaged and invited us to the wedding, I’ve had close friends get engaged and married, etc.
Everyone is happy for them, never jealous, don’t jump into the marriage unless asked for specific advice with all the details.

The only person within my relatives I know who got married is one of my male cousins who is a doctor and his parents are both rich. Had an expensive wedding I didn’t even bother going to. It’s all self centered stuff.

Not really. But, at my brother’s wedding, my stepmom told me I was next. I have two brothers and they’re both married.
