I'm single and I don't wear a wedding ring. However I know a lady who is a long haul truck driver and she is single, and she does wear a wedding ring. It helps limit how many guys approach her. It is not a cure-all though.

I've been only wearing my engagement ring because my wedding band stopped fitting during pregnancy 😣 but yes still technically wearing a ring just not both of them

  I've known some single women who occasionally wear a wedding ring... when they don't want to be bothered by guys, and some who want guys to think they are willing to cheat, as in single guy in a bar gets approached by a woman wearing a wedding ring, letting him know what she wants.
