Why don't people stay and fight for their marriage anymore?

Far too many people (both men and women) are WAY to selfish, and they let their relationships get "sick" until they are near death, in many cases until "death" is virtually certain, and THEN want their partner to fight for the relationship. That's no path to success. You have to start fighting for that relationship as soon as the problems start, when the "patient" is still quite healthy. But that takes work, and requires sacrifices, and a lot of people don't want to be bothered until the relationship is "being read its last rites" and they can't deny there's a problem anymore before they want to do something - and by then it's too late.

Relationships have to be worked on pretty much every day. Issues need to be addressed quickly and early-on, and worked out. And even before any of that, you needed to do a good job vetting your partner for their morals, values, and life-goals before you even agreed to commit to them - this greatly reduces the chances of there being unexpected red flags way down the road. If you put it off, you are likely dooming your relationship. A "cold" becomes the flu, and the flu becomes pneumonia, and pneumonia becomes death - and your relationship, that could have been fixed with some hot soup back when it just had a cold, is now dying of pneumonia that often can't be fixed.

That is a very good question. Nowadays people have a lot of self respect and not really willing to compromise too much.

Because they don't have the patience to stick it out. This is the "if it's too hard, quit" generation. I'm guilty of quitting a job several times, but I would never do that in a marriage or relationship. I believe in fighting for your love because it doesn't come around often whereas job opportunities do.

People do. Many just don't even realise there's something they have to fight for, since half don't communicate their needs.

I think many people have been there done that for many years and have become completely burnt out. You have to imagine fighting for a marriage sometimes for a decade or more but the other person isn’t putting the same effort in.

I do agree I think many people marry for the wrong reasons as well as marry the wrong person. So they just ride it out as long as they can.

People would rather send a text message than actually talk. I have seen people text each other while being in the same house.

when someone says they'll change and yet they never put in the effort to change or do anything different, it gets tiring. that's why.
