Do you feel that marriage makes for a stronger relationship?

Some feel marriage is a sacred institution, while others feel that it's just a title or paper that wouldn't change anything in their relationship. Of course, from a legal perspective, there's a difference... but what difference do you think it makes in a personal relationship, if any?

It depends on the people‘s expectations of what marriage is supposed to look like. Some people think that marriage changes nothing, but it is a further escalation of the relationship and further bringing out the two people‘s lives. Some people think that they are duties and responsibilities that come with marriage that don’t exist without or before marriage.
As long as both people are on board, they can create for a stronger connection, but if someone is expecting an escalation of the relationship end of the responsibilities due of both people and the other is not, you might have a problem.


You see this idea online a lot. A woman will say something like “I’m not cooking for a man who’s not my husband” or something like that. This person is expecting an escalation in the responsibilities due to each other.


I personally think that a marriage is not anything different from the things before it in terms of how you treat the other person, but the increased security and commitment allows you to do things that are a little bit more risky with the person. Things like having children or buying a house. The fabric of the relationship itself doesn’t change, but the increased commitment gives you a sense of security, making decisions together

Marriage isn't absolutely necessary for a man and woman to love each other. It's a human made concept. If a couples truly loves each other, the label and ceremony should not be needed, because all they would want is to be with each other. You wouldn't need vows, because you would always want to be with each other through sickness and health, thick and thin, for better or for worse.

That being said, I personally have always liked the concept of a wedding. A ceremony where all of our loved ones come together to help celebrate the start of our life together. I've always envisioned a wedding that all of my loved ones remember for life. It can be a beautiful experience.

I'll also add that I've always liked the idea of proposing and the idea of having rings that represent our bond to each other.

Again, it's not absolutely necessary, but it's a beautiful concept.

I think the directions are reversed. I don't believe marriage makes relationships stronger, but people with stronger relationships are more likely to marry.

In a perfect world, marriage signifies a higher level of commitment and a public declaration of a lifelong partnership. If you are not aiming for this, perhaps you shouldn't be getting married.

Personally I find marriage the biggest man made crap there is. It doesn't change anything about the love you feel for someone it's just a transaction benefitial for the governments

Marriage is a sacred institution all that says otherwise is crazy and yes it you honor your marriage vows your relationship will be stronger. The problem is people get married for the wrong reasons now a days
