There are several situations. Maybe you married your spouse, who already had a home. Or maybe you bought a home together.

In your current situation, who owns the home, you or your spouse, or jointly owned together?

Houses in Australia it's not like USA , everything housing wise is CRAZY expensive , I am fortunate I own 2 of them , massive value..

In Thailand I rent ( no point to own ) although I do own one small Condo ( leased for a tiny amount ) ..

I separate these assets , so if I did have a current wife / girlfriend who was serious from Thailand , we'd be renting..

If I had an Australian girlfriend / wife , she needs to be at least as wealthy as me. I'm not really answering , but I think you get what I'm saying indirectly re ; property , just not worth the risk.

Never marry down , without a solid renup on assets coming in.. fact.

Ms. Helen and I will be closing on a house next Friday and it will be titled in both names, as husband and wife. It is a form of ownership known as tenants by the entireties, and it affords some special protections from creditors.

Initially we both owned our own homes which we sold to enable us to buy a huge plot a land with outline planning permission for six bespoked properties... With my husband being an architect, we designed and built our own six bedroom/bathroom home which we both jointly own... We have since sold off the five remaining plots, with my husband again designing all five properties.

He owns the home. We've been meaning to change the title to both of us, but every time he comes home from work there are just more fun things to do than go to the title office lol

We are not married but Primary home Owned by us now after a declaration of trust to protect my initial investment / down-payment and subsequent addition to mortgage application and property deed. Setup to protect us both in the event of split / death to relevant nominated beneficiaries

The married couple would both own the home together. Unless otherwise specified in some sort of legal agreement. As far as I know. I'm not a lawyer.
