One of my best friends proposed to me and I bought a beautiful dress, but we mutually called the engagement off two years ago and decided to just be friends and we both moved on with our lives.
Now, two years later, I’ve still got a beautiful dress that’s taking up space in my wardrobe, with no current plans to get engaged, or married. Should I hold onto it in the off chance that I get married, to save money? Or get rid of it and start over with a new dress, if I get engaged to someone else, further down the track?

If it's taking up a lot of space then get rid of it
If it's just there and not a huge deal then I say keep it. Although the question is how would you explain that to who you're getting married to about the dress, not everyone would be okay with their significant other getting married to them in a dress that was meant for someone else for you to be married to
Do whatever you want with it. It's yours. You could sell it, keep it, give it away, donate it to charity. There's all sorts of things you can do with it. I'm sure you have enough room in your closet for it, hopefully, unless it's totally full of God knows what else.
I gave the clothes I had from my ex-girlfriend to people in need; I didn't sell them or throw them away.
