It just makes you look petty and immature. But I guess it is one way to demonstrate that you don't give a shit about people you spend parts of your life with.
As has been said, the stuff is yours and you can do with it as you please. If he had a problem with it then he should have either taken the stuff back or just not paid attention.
It depends on the circumstance, in general you shoud just put them away or donate them to charity instead of in the dumpster but you did offer first so I can't take his side in this one.
No it isn't rude at all. You don't want them and he wouldn't take them back. He wanted you to keep them so you can remember him. Sometimes throwing away those memories would be best.
Rude and pretty cold. You broke up yesterday, after Christmas (maybe you don't celebrate it anyway, but yeah) and already everything is gone. By new year maybe you'll be partying with a new guy.
I would have sold the jewelry and use the money for something important. I threw away everything my ex gave me. There's no point in keeping those things when you're trying to forget that person.
no throw all of it away or burn it in a fiery rage. the important thing is that its gone, and that you can move on to find a more trusting, and dependable relationship that can last longer.
If they were given to you, it’s your choice what you do with them.

Maybe you could have kept the part about throwing it away to yourself. Or just donate it to something like salvation army instead. It depends on the reason you broke up though. Like if he cheated or was a jerk then maybe he deserved it.

Just because an ex gave it to you, doesn’t mean you have to get rid of them, especially if they’re of value and/or use.
That's fine. You're under no obligation to keep his things, and you did warn him, so I think what you did was totally fine.
I wouldn't accept a gift from an ex. But, if they spent their money on you donate the gift to a charity or a neighbor.
Well since you warned him he shouldn't be mad. But giving them away to a foster home/ donation or something would've been nice.

yeah its rude, but you'renot supposed to give a damn. he's an ex now
Sell it, why toss it? Even if it's so easy stupid little thing, you can make a little money and make someone happy.
I vote yes, but in your case it's note that rude because you try to give him back before. It's his fault..
Honestly who cares? It's yours so you do what you want to do with it.
I agree with a few others, which would be giving those gifts away before getting rid of these.

Just tell him to grow up he had his chance to take them back.
