I mean, depends how you define wealth anyway. It being indebted to car finance an indication of wealth? Overall, a car is not a very financially savvy thing to spend much money on.

My car is kind of shit, but I don't care. I have no finance. I'm not compensating for something with a BMW.

People choose cars based on taste, yes finances are a concern but there are ways to get a vehicle you want. A small car doesn't always mean your poor, some people prefer a small car.

It is possibly a sign but I drive a piece of $hit (pos) because I like it but I could easily buy new cars cash, but what a waste. A pos is theft resistant, makes space on the road, no one blocks your door, and for some unknown reason I get laid more with a pos.

Quite the opposite actually, everyone goes for big fast powerful cars but end up spending a lot of money on them, I know a lot of wealthy people who drive around in stuff like a vw golf, their reason is that it's only there to get them to work and back, he'd rather invest the money that spend on cars, clothes and jewellery, I'd say he has a good point lol
