Is buying a budget book a good way to stop my shopping addiction?

Buying something in the hope of it stopping you from buying things? Writing your budget on paper or in a free app will give the same result… if you want to buy something write it down and wait a week before making the purchase if it’s still that desirable

You can budget yourself day by day. Just take your pay check, divide it by 30, and there's your daily limit. Don't go above that limit. If you want to buy something expensive, wait a few days while only buying necessities and let your daily limit carry over.

Meditation will. Take some time and self reflect on when you first started feeling that way and search for the reason why it got you addicted. If you need help, give a psychiatrist a try.

There's not a word of "judgment" in there. The answer is the same. You pay your bills, your rent, etc. You have "x" dollars left. Let's say you have $100 left per week. How will writing something in a book "stop you" from spending it on crap? That's what I fail to understand.
