Nah. I don't use shopping as entertainment. When I go shopping I have goals in mind. I don't like to waste time in a store. Today I was looking for a bookshelf. I looked in two stores. Also checked out a weedeater and where I could buy a composter. One store. Did not roam the aisles of the store looking around. This is a good way to waste time and money.
I spent $1.50 on a small vase. I'm thinking about the other purchases and analyzing my budget to see what I can afford as well as seeing what consumer reports recommends in weedeater/composter categories. Also need to line up someone with a truck so I can get the bookshelves home. Honda's too small. Measured space in my house to see how bookshelf would fit.
When grocery shopping I have a list. OK to go off the list if you forget something and stroll by it down some aisle on the way to an item on the list. But going through every aisle! Would drive me crazy.
Maybe if rich and didn't have to work this might be fun. Not with other tasks to do.
It actually depends on the type of shopping I'm doing. I HATE clothes shopping with a passion, so I strive for the first picture as much as possible. lol But if I'm browsing an outdoor store or if I'm in a new grocery store (particularly ethnic markets), I oftentimes enjoy taking my time to see what they have to offer and I'll look through most aisles and sections.
But in general terms, I'm not a fan of shopping, so I like to get in and get the hell out as soon as possible. lol I have other things in life I prefer to do much more, so it's not something I like to waste my time doing. For me, shopping is something that has to be done, not something I do for enjoyment.
It depends on a lot of things.
I pretty much hate shopping in general, but I have been known to wander around in stores at times. Those times are long in the past. I'm more of an in and out shopper these days. My age probably has a lot to do with that. It's very tiring to me to shop.
I've become an online shopper by default the last 5 years or so, only going to stores when I need something right away, or to support local businesses for particular items when I can.
It may be my imagination, but it seems as if brick and mortar stores have much less choice and inventory than they did some years ago.
At some point! Yes. But! Most women/girls i know does like we do, they know what they want, they do a whole research online, some social medias and all that. I have been buying levi's jeans for the last 16-18 years, i know where and what to find, grab it, pay, leave. Most women are not like that but i have met and i still know few that act like this and i don't go out shopping with them.
This could be true lol But I've also met some guys who would spend a lot of time shopping, trying on many things and drag me with them to get my advice. I find it very annoying and I never do that unless I am shopping alone. Then I let myself do whatever I want and see as many stores as I like.
When I'm all by myself, I take my time shopping but I only browse the aisles of interest to me.
When I'm with my husband, he/we already know what it is we're going to the store (such as the supermarket & Home Depot) for and just pick up the pre-determined items and head for the check-out counters.
I'm pretty direct but some times I wander around the grocery store because I'm kinda thinking about what I still wanna buy but then I zone out a bit. But most of the time I just get what I want and get out or I buy stuff online which is also just buy what you need and you're done.
For me personally Yes!
But dose change, if I come for something set it be shorter... except if there something really cute on the way that catch my eye
If I just come in to browes then for sure
When going to the supermarket for exsample I go very stight with a set orderDepends on how focused I am going in, and where it is. Just a simple trip to Wal-Mart, with time ticking to be elsewhere? I'll most likely go in and come out SWAT-style. Now, on a day off, if I have to go to Lowe's or something for some reason, and no one cares what else I do that morning? I'm gonna be up and down those aisles, gawking at all the potential for home improvement projects I'll never get to be a part of.
fully agree, women dont know what they are looking for until they find it, guys know exactly what they are looking for and even if women know exactly what they are looking for, they will look around the store and leave the item they are looking for, last 😂
I know the layout of each store I shop. I write the sale items and what I might need for each. I highlight the lowest price of any items on multiple lists. Then, I go to shop. Very focused. I keep a running total of my bill, so I will know when the store messes up and misses a sale.
I'm not sure that's true anymore for women. In my grandparents and parents days, shopping at a major department store was an event and a specific destination. My grandma and mom liked doing that, and women in our neighborhood would take shopping trips to the city specifically to do that. Today I think it's more of a pain in the ass and you go when you can't find a good deal on line, or you need something instantly, or maybe just want to get out of the house!!
Yes very much. For groceries, 100%.
For other stuff, i just go through all the aisles in a one by one pattern (for the sections of the store thate relates to me). It also comes drom the fact that I do everything like that (typical example, how I vacuum the house).
I have seen my mom shop; all her sisiters and my wife as well. Their random stroll is unmistakably similar to your diagram.
Nope. Obviously a woman made that picture... Why would a man back track on the same isle when he could just circle over to the next isle from the end of the previous isle? You made men walk twice as far as men actually do walk.
Lol love that picture.
For me personally, I can do both. Sometimes I'm in and out -- swat mission and I know exactly what I want and where to get it. No other reason.
Other times I'm in the store for the experience.i try to make sure of what I come for is what I get. But ya know, people have that thing you also need so probably gonna see if i can afford that with what I need. And that's it. >:c no mo'.
Noo way I go shopping like that, hahahahaha. I am not joking. I walk around the whole mall and have to check everything. And then have a nice meal inside.
It takes me like.. hours? 🤭🤣
I would say I cover the entire shop but the line isn't erratic like the one on the bottom pic it's just a walk through the aisles once.
(Especially if I don't know the store well)
In a familiar place I'd say I'm like most men in pic 1Explains why men return with beer and bags of crisps and forget the eggs and milk.
Fairly much though the second second is fair to a lot of women who carefully go up and down each aisle checking each product on every shelf to make sure. I take a 3 items or less approach and it pisses me off.
