There is this very beautiful ring that is $150 that I absolutely love and my birthday is coming up, I am thinking about buying it for myself but at the same time I'm not sure if that would considered strange or selfish or anything. I do have a really good guy friend in my life, but I do not expect him to buy it for me. Just because he gave me a diamond bracelet when we were kids doesn't mean he will buy me this said ring&I wouldn't expect him to do that and i can afford it more than he can, but I would never tell him that. I would hope it wouldn't bother him or make me seem selfish, would it? Ladies I've asked said no, but I'd like to hear a male's opinion. Thanks.
Not my money. You earned it. Spend it how you see for. Honestly I don’t think men really care. Men do the same all the time. Whether it’s a basketball jersey, watch, tattoo, video game, camping equipment, etc. The only way I could see it causing a possible issue is if this “friend” thinks you got it from another man. Maybe he might get upset if you wear your bracelet more than the one he gave you, thinking his wasn’t good enough. But I’d be surprised if the one he gave you as a kid still fits.

Think they are smart and good with money! It's your birthday go for it!
Why would it make you look selfish? Shows you know what you like and go for it!
As long as it’s not an actual engagement ring that you bought for yourself then I don’t see anything wrong with it
