Do retail stores look like they are about to go out of business?

I have been running some errands today. I went to Target, Lowes and a couple of others. The shelves seemed bare and there were items I was looking for that were out of stock. There was a clothing store that looked like this a few months ago and a couple of weeks ago I went to their going out of business sale.

Are we headed for another bunch of bankruptcies? How bad can things get?

They've closed almost every store that I used to shop at. The last one was both Big Lots stores. Man, I loved that store!! They must be nation wide because they had them in Tennessee as well.

They closed the Target in the town where I live and now we have to drive really far away if we want to go to Target.

They closed down our bank that was close by and now, same story, we have to drive far from home if we need to go there.🤷🏼‍♀️

They are going to close down Family Dollar and that's another store I like to shop at because they have things I need that no other store carries. 😔

They closed down all 99cents Only stores a while back ago. I read that they reopened up ONE in my State so far but it's not near myat all. The great thing about that store was that they sold produce of healthy food and the new stores will not be selling produce. That's how so many people were able to eat healthy food, people that didn't have a lot of money.
So now it's just going to be the rest of the usual stuff that dollar stores sell. That's a shame! Greedy people stopped selling produce to hungry people.😔

There's nothing like that down here in Florida! When people shoplift even a candy bar in Florida, they are 100% going to jail! They are also going to stay in jail until they can come up with their bail! That's why those gangs steal from stores in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut and then come down to Florida to sell it on Craigslist, Facebook marketplace, and all the other online marketplaces. It's like an amazingly simple mathematical equation… If you stop arresting people for stealing shit from stores, they're going to steal MORE shit from stores!

Yeah that's kind of the same with the stores around me every time I walk into the grocery store I see the prices go up higher

And somewhere in the back of my mind I always hear these guys know what's going on but they're not saying a word about it but one of these days it's going to happen if you can get free solar through the government right now you should do it so you have power somewhere down the road you should stock up on food so you have food somewhere down the road. If you can invent a no power generator do it because you become filthy rich and pray

They do where I live, of course grocery stores are fully stocked but certain retail stores are not carrying as much. Kohl's, for example, never has my clothing sizes anymore or at times, the style I like, so, I have to order them. Same as BUNN coffee makers. Kohl's used to carry several types and had them in stock but they no longer do, I had to order one yesterday.

Nobody goes bankrupt anymore don't you know? Private equity just swoops in picks the carcass clean and relaunches it as an online store using the brand name while sourcing their products from China for pennies on the dollar.

as someone who has worked in stores, a lot of them keep their shelfs half empty to make it seem like the products are more desirable. which usualy causes a rush for new customers to buy more. (this usualy makes the stores also raise their prices)
