Who's job is it to fix it if you bring an item without a bar code to the checkout? Cashier? Manager? Customer? Should they get to cut line on return?

I was torn between cashier and manager. I probably should have said manager but I thought basically any employee is responsible. So a shop floor person would usually be called over. The customer gets to keep their position ! Tho I have like gone to sort this type of thing out myself cos it's quicker!

In my shop they get a runner to fetch another one of the same item and scan that, the queue gets held up, some nice customers say "forget it" and leave the item,,,
