Why Living In The City Is Better Than Living In A Rural Area

I really don’t understand people who say, I’d rather live in the country. Personally I’d not. I even live in a suburb and I don’t like it. I’d rather live in the very center of a city.

But someone might ask: Why don't you move? My answer is: Because I own the house I have. (Fortunately or not)

Anyway, let's begin:

1) Better internet access

There are way way more free WiFi spots in a city than in a rural area for sure.

2) Better landscapes

Sure a matter of taste, but personally I like the tall buildings made of glass.

3) Distances Are Smaller

You don’t have to own a car to move. Public transit can get you everywhere.

4) Less animals/More people

I find it pretty weird to have more animals than more people, around me.

5) More food/drink choices

Guess this is obvious. There are tons of different restaurants and stores around you. In a rural area there might be only a few mini-markets and that’s all. Or you have to drive to get to the city.

6) More noise

I know most might find the noise as a negative thing, but personally I find silence and peacefulness, irritating. Whether I’m indoors or outdoors I’ll always listen to music loudly or the cars’ noise.

7) More Pokestops and Gyms

This is for Pokemon trainers exclusively of course. Others wouldn’t care.

8) More services available

Isn’t it easier to find a plumber for example, in a city than in a rural area? Chances are you have to fix it yourself if you are not in the city.

9) More women available for you

All the good chicks hang around in cities, definitely not in rural areas.

10) Nightlife

Do rural areas have nightlife anyway?

In conclusion, for others the image below might cause happiness and peacefulness, but for me it’s a nightmare.­­­

These are all true... for me! However, these are not limited to cities but also to other urbanized areas.

Here are some of my observations why living in urbanized areas can be really convenient:

1. I think cities can guarantee jobs with a higher pay in wages than the rural areas... but these urbanized areas can raise higher taxes than the rural ones can do.

2. I've never seen a concert or an international event held in a rural setting before.

Pretty much everything you mentioned is why I love living on a farm.

1. Even in the country, we do have high speed internet access. So this point is moot.
2. I'd MUCH rather look out over a pond, fields, and forests rather than tall buildings of steel and concrete.
3. Distances may be shorter but with the amount of traffic, it still takes a while to get anywhere. Here, I can jump in my car and drive anywhere I need to go in a reasonable amount of time.
4. I much prefer animals to crowds of people.
5. This is only if you like fast food. I can easily shop for what I need at grocery stores and cook at home. I prefer my own cooking to fast food anyway.
6. I prefer the peace and quiet of farm life.
7. This one is irrelevant to me.
8. People in the country are used to fixing things themselves and if we can't fix it, chances are we know someone else who can.
9. Like everything else in your list, this is relative to individual preferences and trust me, MANY men like country girls.
10. Country people have their own fun. There are bars but in addition to that, we're perfectly happy riding around talking, star gazing, building bon fires, playing music, and making our own "nightlife." The type of fun we have here is just more laid-back.

You're entitled to your opinions but many other people think rural areas are better than cities. It just depends on individual preferences.

You do have a point Bee. :) I suppose it also depends on how you were raised as well though. Myself, being born and raised in Texas in the middle of a huge city throughout childhood, living in the country now in Oklahoma has been quite annoying due to how far apart things are here.

Reading this made me realize how interesting things like preferences are.
I grew up in a rural town of like 30,000 people. My town is growing quickly and really developing so it isn't as small and rural as it once was. Still, there are things I love and hate about it.

1) I have great internet and our businesses and coffee shops all have free wifi too just like in major cities.
2) Cities can be very beautiful so I can admire the urban jungle but I do enjoy jogging through nature walks out in the country where I live.
3) Okay I agree about the distance thing. It takes me like 30 minutes to drive to the center of town and that's without traffic. There are no businesses out here in the boonies.
4) Animals can be annoying. We have a lot of wild coyotes out here that can be loud at night. They also have a habit of making people's pets go missing.. lol but I do wish I lived in a more diverse and populated area at times.
5) This is the thing I miss most about NYC. I loved the food selection. It was so quick to get to all kinds of different foods from my friend's apartment. That's something I miss about the city.
6) I agree about the noise thing. It is too quiet at night in a rural area. I need music or my tv on in order to sleep because the silence drives me mad.
7) I don't care about pokemon go

9) This is something else I miss from the city. There are beautiful women from all over the world and they're everywhere :D
10) I don't care about nightlife. I'm too chill for that. I'd prefer to just hang at a bonfire with some friends and shoot the shit.

In the country you can see the stars and way more of them. Nightlife is bonfires and guitar pickin'. Camping and lake life. (I know you said you hate it but) the silence. That hear the crickets and breeze sound is so peaceful. It makes you feel small. All that being said...

I did a short city gig and (call me crazy) but I loved near the fire department and I could hear them leave from my apartment all night. Ioved to have the windows open and night and just listen to the noise. I liked the street walks and met some interesting people. Everything is close. It was a fun chapter of my life but I love my country woods.

It honestly comes down to personal preference, really. As a person who has lived in both a city and a rural area, there are advantages and disadvantages to both.

And yes, there is night life in the country. Have you ever had a bonfire with a bunch of friends and some drinks? :)

1. People let the internet rule their lives. It's nice to disconnect and go for a long hike into the wilderness.
2. unreal coffins of concrete and steel. No thanks give me the forests and the mountains any day.
3. People get lazy in the city
4. The people behave like herds of animals
5. More obesity causing fast food chains

7. Pokemon is a waste of time. How many gyms do you need.
8. People in rural areas are self reliant. Most times they can fix it or do it themselves.
9. City chicks have unreasonably high standards for dating men and usually all end up dating the top 10%of men in the city even if they are just average girls.
10. Plenty of rural bars. Cheaper drinks. Less "cool" pretentious people standing around in overpriced clothes looking bored and more ordinary folks having actual fun. Not to mention later closing times.

It's a matter of opinion. The reasons you listed for living in the city are reasons to not live in the city for many people. I like living in the burbs and away from some of the hustle and bustle. I especially like it quiet. I also like driving just not in the city traffic.
