I do not mean to control dreams in life. They are something that might change by time. With controlling dreams, I mean the dreams when you sleep. It is possible to be aware that you are dreaming and do stuff or change the genre of your dream. Sometimes people like to fly in their dreams. Have you ever controlled your own dreams?

My experience

I have been controlling my dreams ever since I was a kid. Not like I do it every night or so. But sometimes. When I was really young I saw a dream where I jumped and started to fly. It was so realistic that I was not sure if it had really happened so I tried it in reality. Of course it didn't work. But I kept trying it every now and then just to check if I had gotten my superpower back. And because it had gotten to a habit I started to do it even in my dreams. In my dreams it worked. And then I could decide what else I wanted to do in my dream.

As a teenager I started to realize I could control my dreams. I started to think about something/someone before I fell asleep. Mostly I saw a dream about that someone or something. And in the dream I usually knew it was a dream so I was not afraid to do things I would not do in the reality.

How to do it

Control what you are going to dream about

They say writing down your dreams will help you remember what you dream and get a connection to the part of your brain that has created these dreams. I have usually liked to talk about my dreams after I have seen some weird dream, so it does not necessarily require a notebook. Of course writing things down will help some more. Those who learn by writing.

Writing down what you wanna dream, or even thinking about it will help too. You can try to draw pictures too.

Getting control in your dreams

Make reality checks. You should start to do reality checks even when you are not dreaming. Ask yourself if you are awake or not. It will make you pay attention to things that differ reality from a dream. The check can be like the check I did when I was a child. To jump in the middle of the day just to test if you are awake or dreaming. When you have starting to do this in the daytime it becomes some kind of routine and that way you will most likely do it in your dream too.

When you do a reality check in your dream you will most likely realize it is a dream and then you have control over your dream. If you get too excited though it might be you wake up, so that is why you should not take too huge steps in the dream and just try smaller things at first. Maybe after that try flying.
