This my take is not about addiction to drugs or anything like that. It is about thoughts more than anything. If you find yourself thinking some bad thoughts all the time or stuck somehow, read this!
What seems to be the cause?
First of all: what is the actual thing you are worried, sad, angry or stressed about? Is it caused by a person, job, event or some thing that happened to you? When you find yourself thinking the negative thoughts, it might be hard to stop and think about the situation. If you, however, are able to see that you have a problem, it might stress you even more if you can not solve it.
You have to realize you have a negative circle before you can do anything about it. So once you do, make sure you find the source for the negativity. It is easier to solve a problem when you know why it is there.
Take some space
If the reason for your bad thoughts or sad feelings are a person, back up. If you have just got hurt by someone in your close circle, you can of course try to solve the problem by speaking to that person. However, if that person is someone you dated for example, you should not try to contact them and try to make everything okay again. The person who hurt you, should be able to make it up to you and contact you in those cases. So if it was a romantic relationship and the other person has made you feel really bad, so that you almost lost your will to live; TAKE SOME SPACE.
To take some space does not have to be to run to outer space, but it might mean you have to change your daily routines. Maybe take another supermarket the next time. Sometimes going for a vacation might make it. To go so far that nothing reminds you of them and you have no chance to run into them, is so refreshing.
If it is a negative friend you had, the same advice applies. TAKE SOME SPACE. As in the above mentioned example, you should not try to even reach out after trying to talk to them. Of course in a close friendship you try to talk things clear and solve the problem. Anyhow, if there is nothing to do anymore, if the person is too poisonous and does not respect your boundaries for example, just leave them. They are not worth your time and mental health.
If it is some kind of activity it might not be your own thing. Think about why it causes the bad vibrations, why it affects you like this. If the reason is something you can not solve, you should stop the activity or at least thin down the practicing of it. So if this is your job, you should think about other work possibilities and maybe even changing your whole career. Is it possible for you to study something new? Your work should be something you enjoy and not something that drains you.
Find something new you enjoy
Upgrade your life somehow and improve yourself in different everyday tasks or maybe something else. Find your strengths and do what makes you happy. This sounds easier than it is, but when you are feeling that "you are on the bottom", there is no other way than going up. If you feel you have a bad circle, then there is something wrong that can be changed. So change it, find the things you really want to have in your life.
Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.
