I was walking down the hall at school after class and a girl came up behind me and kissed me on the cheek. Then in a devious smile back away “see you tomorrow”. Then a boy across the hall yelled “that girl just gave you cooties!” Cooties…. Yeah cooties.. ewwww girl cooties…. But something did not feel right. Thankfully it was my last class of the day. As we lined up for buses I noticed my backpack had a new button on it. It was for a Disney princess. I got scared, I never put that there! I calmed myself, the girl must have put it there to play with me.
On the bus I noticed guys start to shy away from me and as I sat down in an empty seat another girl, that given I actually liked girls would have liked, sat next to me comfortably. I remembered in the past that she would have avoided me. She started opening up about how boys were stupid and about the mishaps that happened in class. Did she know who I was?
I got off the bus and noticed that my shoes changed. They were now pink with sparkles on them. I started to run home. I got in the door and shouted “MOM I HAVE COOTIES!” She was on the phone. Be a good boy and let mommy talk, go up stairs and play with some of your toys. My toys I thought, were they still mine. I ran upstairs. They all looked the same. I turned on the light. My cars, action figures and light sabers were all still there.
But then suddenly, my hot wheels track turned into a barbie dream house. Before I had time to panic about that, my handy andy tool bench turned into a little vanity. All my blue furniture with stars now had pink and white with sparkles on it. All of my other toys started to slowly turn into toys about Disney princesses and stuff from the girl in Wreck it Ralph. My lamp turned from transformers to a cute lamp with pink and red hearts on it. Did I just say cute, because all my toys were so adorable.
My carpet turned into a light pink shag.
I had a moment where I just had to go to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror. My chin started to narrow and eyes became a little bigger. My nose turned into a smaller adorable button nose and lips became slightly thicker. My eye color turned from brown to light blue. My eyebrows were now trimmed. My lips gained a cherry lip gloss. My shirt started to get bigger. It turned into a huge size and then formed into a cute little pink dress. Then my pants felt tighter then softer as they turned into a pair of pink leggings. Then I felt a jean jacket grow over my back as a final touch.
My hair grew out long and fashioned itself into pig tails. I had one last moment of shock. I quickly ran down stairs to my mom, “hey baby girl I am almost finished” I ran back upstairs. But this time I almost did in a tantrum stomping. I started to feel myself let go. Boys were jerks, girls were amazing, girls were going to rule the world, and my outfit was the cutest. I did not have part of my former self. This was the new me. I looked into the mirror in my bathroom now covered in girly stuff. I was cuter than the cutest girl in school. Maybe I was popular. I was excited to see what happened my next day in school. The girl that kissed me said “welcome to the club, I dare you to go over and kiss that boy.”
