I used to have a heavy southern accent when I grew up in Tennessee. Now I have a Californian accent. I have to say that I find southern accents... hot as hell. Makes me feel nostalgic when I hear one in California.
I honestly couldn't pick out any of these accents except for maybe Canadian and Texan. Otherwise it all sounds the same to me. Foreign accents are all better though in my opinion. So I guess by that standard, I would have to go with Canadian. lol
I didn't know I had an accent and I've been out of Michigan multiple times. Lol nice to 9% of people find it sexy. Anyway I think Canadian (all the different regions) and Southern accents are the sexiest.
Not really a fan of any of those. Can't stand southern accents and especially can't stand New Jersey. I'm from California and consider myself not to have an accent, but I wonder what it sounds like to the outside person?
I have the western/mountain accent, but sometimes I start vomiting southern accents at random. That's what happens when a Wyoming girl gets raised in part by Texans, moves to Idaho, and falls in love with an Arkansan.
Oh and to answer the question: I don't really care, but I hate listening to people from New York City talk when they have that horrific accent. It's terrible.
We actually do have accents, but there are different ones depending on the region. Most of them are not actually the stereotypical accent portrayed by American media though, lol.
That's definitely a prairie/Midwest accent. I'm not sure about Toronto - I can't hear my own accent. East of here, I've noticed that people say about with a short O sound. They're likely influenced by all the French there.
I'm definitely not denying the "aboot" accent though, just that not everyone actually has it. Just like not every American sounds like they're from the south I guess.
I spent two weeks on a bus tour with 18 Aussies, and they said that for the most part my accent sounded pretty Canadian. I think a lot of Americans tend to draw out their a's, for example, whereas many of us Canadians make them sound shorter... It's hard to explain over text haha
I think I do have a slight accent but, not a lot of people from Toronto such as myself have a strong in your face accent. Yeah eh comes out sometimes but I don't agree with "aboot". People from Newfoundland and out that way have a stronger sort of accent at least to my ears.
Everybody has an accent. There is no such thing as no accent.
And @musicbrain5 , really? "Aboot" is a western thing? Have you ever heard Don Cherry speak? That's a Southern Ontario thing that's infecting the country through Ontario-centric media.
@Shmusername: Well, like I said I can't hear my own accent. His is particularly strong though and I don't know if that's cause he's from Kingston? That's like a 3 hour drive away from where I am. I try to avoid listening to Don Cherry though. Don't want his political views warping my mind lol.
Depends on where you're from. Ontario there isn't that much of one but you can hear it a bit. Where as Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland there is a definite accent.
As a european "canadian" sounds like a more pure version of an American accent xD. The ones you're taught in school if your teacher speaks with an American accent.
Nobody really notices their own accents. I went to the South and I told almost everyone I loved their accent and most of them said "What accent?" or "I never noticed I had one.". Someone else said I have a thick Northern accent and I asked the exact same thing, lol.
I think the South will rise on this one. Everybody love to hear us country boys and them ole country gals talk. Especially when they have a strong southern draw or real country twang.
I like the Californian accent. I live in a southern state. I guess a southern accent sounds better than a northern accent unless the person sounds like Larry the Cable Guy. He's from Nebraska. He uses a fake southern accent. His accent is just annoying to me.
*Alicia Keys voice* " NEW YOOORRRKKK" I just love it when I hear a guy with this accent. Maybe its cuz I'm from there but I lived most of my life in the south.
I don't see what is sexy about southern accents (and I'm in Louisiana, and no we are not the stereotypical thought of insane swamp people, we are semi-normal, because we are still a little violent)
There is absolutely nothing sexier than a man with an East coast accent Form New York or Jersey. They have their own lingo and I am in love with it, It sends chills up my spine
Terrible southern stereotypes. We have cities down here too, ya know. Not all of us live in the bayous or the backwoods and we don't all sound like we've eaten one too many coon.
I'M A SOUTHERNER, I'M BORN AND RAISED IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA... BUT TO ME THE SEXIEST ACCENT IS MY UP NORTH BOYZ... I LOVE NEWYORK MEN AND PENNSYLVANIA MEN ACCENT.. AND AT THE SAME TIME, UP NORTH MEN WERE THE MEN THAT WAS ALWAYS ATTRACTED TO ME.. I LOVE THEIR, WALK, TALK, STYLE... IT JUST TURNS ME ON!!!
So uh, I don't think there is any accent in a California or Washington residents voice. I think there are some people who speak English with no accent (aka correctly).
thats crazy... I hate my southern accent... it is embarrassing to me and I try to hide it when I talk to others... strange how you think something is unattractive and others like it.

If you're brave enough go to Bakersfield. You'll hear it :P
Bakerfield O: I only live 2 hours away from there.
Ewww how is newyork, new jersy accent sexy to the ladies. O_O
I just came back from New York their accent is ewww.
Southern accent is the sexiest to me.

North - Midwest, i. e., Illinois (Da Bearss!), Wisconsin, Michigan, etc.
I agree, I got a snowboarding lesson in Wisconsin and the instructor had a the cutest accent, but he had a nice voice so I don't know.
I agree with you except Da Bears. I am a Wisconsinite and Die hard Packer fan and I want to thank you for Jay Cutler ;)
Canadian people tell me they don't have accents, so I'll have to go with Southern.
We actually do have accents, but there are different ones depending on the region. Most of them are not actually the stereotypical accent portrayed by American media though, lol.
@musicbrain5 - next you'll tell me you don't say 'aboot'
That's definitely a prairie/Midwest accent. I'm not sure about Toronto - I can't hear my own accent. East of here, I've noticed that people say about with a short O sound. They're likely influenced by all the French there.

Yes we have accents up here
Canadians have accents. They're just not as thick as south. However, I will admit to saying "ayy" quite frequently.
I've literally never heard anyone say "aboot" other than people who are imitating Americans imitating Canadians ;)
I spent two weeks on a bus tour with 18 Aussies, and they said that for the most part my accent sounded pretty Canadian.

Canadians don't have accents, eh? What kind of a moron would tell you that, eh?
I think I do have a slight accent but, not a lot of people from Toronto such as myself have a strong in your face accent. Yeah eh comes out sometimes but I don't agree with "aboot". People from Newfoundland and out that way have a stronger sort of accent at least to my ears.

I'm from the south, and NOBODY. And I mean NOBODY has a southern accent! Especially Texas. Texas is the most Aryan American state in the south.
Nobody really notices their own accents. I went to the South and I told almost everyone I loved their accent and most of them said "What accent?" or "I never noticed I had one.". Someone else said I have a thick Northern accent and I asked the exact same thing, lol.

Canadien accents? What about Quebecois accent? Whenever a Quebecer speaks English it makes you smile :)
Southern. But I may be a bit biased since I'm from the south so that's the accent I'm most used to hearing. Haha!
There is absolutely nothing sexier than a man with an East coast accent Form New York or Jersey. They have their own lingo and I am in love with it, It sends chills up my spine
