Of course, there are many more accents than the 5 listed below, but these are the most common.
Vote now to let us know which accent you find the sexiest!
Brits say I have the American accent, Canadian ask if I am American, Irish say I have the Californian accent or I simply sound like Canadian by being 'apologetic' I don't know.. My Californian friend says that I have Canadian accent-which is not an accent but anyway.. I must have some kind of accent tho, although I can't tell which, and I am none of these origns. Now according to the given data please estimate the sexiness rate of my spoken language and tell me whether I should care and if yes how much lol.
All right all right all right... Matthew McConaughey FTW. I mean, up against Fargo, Good Will Hunting, old Clint Eastwood flicks or... ahhh... Scratching my head, trying to recall a movie with Canadian actors that haven't neutralized their dialect. I don't know.
Anyway, Southern FTW. Hands down. Studies back it up, too. The southern accent is most pleasing to other nationalities.
Lol Fargo. "Yer darn tootin'!"
@pezzonovante88 I do a hilarious impression of a person with that accent having sex. Cracks me up, anyway.
Haha, I can imagine. It's really a humorous accent.
I'm from the Northeast living in Canada and their accents are pleasant and made me giggle when I first moved to Ontario. Not that different than the accents in the Northern States but there are definitely some differences :)
Texas has the sexiest accent of North America, in my opinion. Irish accents are the best though
LOL I love that you give a bunch of American accents and then say "Canadian" like we all have the same accent. We don't- we actually have some very distinctive accents throughout the country. Personally, I'd have to go with Mountain, given the choices listed.
No love for Midwesterners? Kidding. We don't really have accents, or at least nothing that stands out.
For me, I LOVE girls with Southern accents. I just find it cute (yes, I said cute!) and charming (is that the right word?). I definitely enjoy their sayings that they have.
Midwesterners, I hear, sound really nasal apparently.
Us Southerners, obviously. Nothing makes a lady happier than referring to her as darlin'.
It's only ever happened to me like once or twice, but I can definitely attest to this haha
And you don't have to call me darlin', darlin'... you never even called me by my name...
Not a fan of southern accents. I like hearing the end of words. I also like it when people don't say y'all
Thnx darlin gets u breakfeast;)

Being from the US, I don't really find any North American accent particularly enticing. I find the Northeastern (especially Brooklyn or Jersey) accents the most unattractive, for what its worth. I also don't really care for Southern accents; I'm attracted primarily to intelligence, and Southern accents don't exactly scream "smart".
interesting comment
That sounds like cultural bias. Methinks you're taking a drawl and equating it with being intellectually lazy. I have a southern accent and I'm about the furthest thing from stupid.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2gKr8ewD0g
It's absolutely cultural, and there are obviously exceptions. Dustin from SmarterEveryDay, for instance, is someone I have a lot of respect for intellectually. That said, on average, the southern states don't wow us with test scores or IQ tests. https://www.sq.4mg.com/IQ-States.htm
This poll isn't realistic because the groups are mixed up. For example, people in Minnesota often sound like Canadians and not at all like Michiganers. New York - as in the metro NYC area - is NOTHING like Boston in Massachusetts. This poll should be scrapped and the generic question should be asked as to the most attractive accent.
Goddammit this pisses me off! There are many different accents in Canada, just like in the USA, or the UK, or any other country on Earth! Western Canadians and North Western Americans are almost indistinguishable. The east coast is completely different. Southern Ontario is all its own! Argh! Rage: building!
I find it ironic that this is a an invalid question. If you speak English naively but pronunciate different than others, it is called a dialect. If you speak a different native language, and you sound different speaking English , then it is called an accent.
Actually, to quote Wikipedia: "A dialect is distinguished by its vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation (phonology, including prosody). Where a distinction can be made only in terms of pronunciation (including prosody, or just prosody itself), the term accent may be preferred over dialect."
The question is asking only about the pronunciation and prosody of typical speakers from these regions.
Really no Mexican accent?
Not that I would pick that one but it can be very hot for sure. And it probably is one of if the not most common.
I agree they are kind of mixed up. People from mississippi don't sound like people from texas and same with mass vs New York.
But give me a southern belle who makes Apple pies and has a high pitched southern accent.
hahahaha I love how much option A dominated. Figured it would be ahead, but not with such numbers! Just such a cute, sweet accent.. talkin' about girls here. Right up near the top just a little behind the Aussies! ahhhh Aussie girls - the way they sound when they talk has me like Homer Simpson when he's thinking about his favourite food. Love it so much.
OMG I'm surprised you even had to ask... Like I said before Southern/Country accents all the way ;)
www.girlsaskguys.com/.../q1235742-what-is-the-sexiest-accent-to-you
Indeed,
I personally haven't heard many other accents than southern. But my idea of southern is probably different than what y'all think of as southern. I'm from southern louisiana so I think of a Cajun southern accent I guess is what y'all would call it. Like how they talk on Swamp People if y'all have ever watched that show.
I picked Northern because it's really fun to hear people from there talk. I'm from Alabama and a southern accent just sounds extremely average to me most of the time. However , if a guy sounds really country when he talks and has a deep voice, I melt.
I do love Southern accents so much! And British! But us Chicagoans? I don't really see a difference in our accents? How do we sound to you?
Also...
i've never really noticed a difference in Ohioans accents? Can someone give me an example on how they sound, been there once!
Funny how Canadians only have one accent. Man I hough we were the country with two official languages, not that we all speak both. American accents do sound completely weird to me, not everybody but some of the southern accents are even hard to handle
I gotta go with my area. The south.

Man I love that country side accent. It just feels so cute on girls. But in meetings or in official dealings or even in speeches I would say NY, NJ accent is the best. This is just my perception though.
I'm Canadian and there's a few different accents, but where I'm from in Canada (Vancouver) there isn't really a specific accent because it's very diverse and cosmopolitan. I think actually for anywhere in Canada that has generally a lot of diversity, there's usually less of a specific accent. I think the most prominent accents really come from the east coast. Newfoundland and stuff like that. I mean, obviously Québec because they primarily speak French there but that's beyond the point. Canada is bilingual though, so a lot of us speak French (including me what up). Sorry, just wanted to voice that.
Since I grew up in the Midwest, which doesn't really have an accent, I associate my family members from out of state with certain accents... My dad was from the south, and I can't talk to any guys with a southern accent without thinking of him and being turned off
I'm from Michigan and when talking to Canadian people I can pick up on it in certain words but it usually takes a bit because we are similar, depends on the dialect though because I've lived all over Michigan and we have several different accents within the state.
I like the southern accent on girl cause i think its a adorable and a little funny and maybe because i like country music. Also when i think of a southern girl i think of a farmers daughter and i also wonder if they still got that accent when they have sex. bte i live in iowa so we don't really have much people with accents.
Women, with that east Tennessee accent (around the Johnsonville area) drive me crazy. I'm on the phone all day and I talk to people all over the US. Nothing beats that accent. West Texas is my second fave. Girls from NY/NJ? Shatup!
G. R. I. T. S!!! Girls Raised In The South!
Didja know?
They did a study, and found that the women who are the most attractive to me are G. R. I. T. S.
lol G. R. I. T. S :D
Southern and Western. I'm from a Illinois but I like nice bass voices from the North. I'll get in trouble with my phonetics teacher if I don't refer to "accents" as "dialects". Technically we need to refer to it as dialect. Lol
I used to have a heavy southern accent when I grew up in Tennessee. Now I have a Californian accent. I have to say that I find southern accents... hot as hell. Makes me feel nostalgic when I hear one in California.
If you're brave enough go to Bakersfield. You'll hear it :P
Bakerfield O: I only live 2 hours away from there.
Ewww how is newyork, new jersy accent sexy to the ladies. O_O
I just came back from New York their accent is ewww.
Southern accent is the sexiest to me.
I honestly couldn't pick out any of these accents except for maybe Canadian and Texan. Otherwise it all sounds the same to me. Foreign accents are all better though in my opinion. So I guess by that standard, I would have to go with Canadian. lol
I didn't know I had an accent and I've been out of Michigan multiple times. Lol nice to 9% of people find it sexy.
Anyway I think Canadian (all the different regions) and Southern accents are the sexiest.
Not really a fan of any of those. Can't stand southern accents and especially can't stand New Jersey. I'm from California and consider myself not to have an accent, but I wonder what it sounds like to the outside person?
I have the western/mountain accent, but sometimes I start vomiting southern accents at random. That's what happens when a Wyoming girl gets raised in part by Texans, moves to Idaho, and falls in love with an Arkansan.
North - Midwest, i. e., Illinois (Da Bearss!), Wisconsin, Michigan, etc.
I agree with you except Da Bears. I am a Wisconsinite and Die hard Packer fan and I want to thank you for Jay Cutler ;)
Canadian people tell me they don't have accents, so I'll have to go with Southern.
We actually do have accents, but there are different ones depending on the region. Most of them are not actually the stereotypical accent portrayed by American media though, lol.
@musicbrain5 - next you'll tell me you don't say 'aboot'
That's definitely a prairie/Midwest accent. I'm not sure about Toronto - I can't hear my own accent. East of here, I've noticed that people say about with a short O sound. They're likely influenced by all the French there.
I'm definitely not denying the "aboot" accent though, just that not everyone actually has it. Just like not every American sounds like they're from the south I guess.
Canadians have accents. They're just not as thick as south. However, I will admit to saying "ayy" quite frequently.
I've literally never heard anyone say "aboot" other than people who are imitating Americans imitating Canadians ;)
I spent two weeks on a bus tour with 18 Aussies, and they said that for the most part my accent sounded pretty Canadian.
I think a lot of Americans tend to draw out their a's, for example, whereas many of us Canadians make them sound shorter... It's hard to explain over text haha
Canadians don't have accents, eh? What kind of a moron would tell you that, eh?
Everybody has an accent. There is no such thing as no accent.
And @musicbrain5 , really? "Aboot" is a western thing? Have you ever heard Don Cherry speak? That's a Southern Ontario thing that's infecting the country through Ontario-centric media.
@Shmusername: Well, like I said I can't hear my own accent. His is particularly strong though and I don't know if that's cause he's from Kingston? That's like a 3 hour drive away from where I am. I try to avoid listening to Don Cherry though. Don't want his political views warping my mind lol.
Depends on where you're from. Ontario there isn't that much of one but you can hear it a bit. Where as Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland there is a definite accent.
As a european "canadian" sounds like a more pure version of an American accent xD. The ones you're taught in school if your teacher speaks with an American accent.
I'm from the south, and NOBODY. And I mean NOBODY has a southern accent! Especially Texas. Texas is the most Aryan American state in the south.
Nobody really notices their own accents. I went to the South and I told almost everyone I loved their accent and most of them said "What accent?" or "I never noticed I had one.". Someone else said I have a thick Northern accent and I asked the exact same thing, lol.
I think the South will rise on this one. Everybody love to hear us country boys and them ole country gals talk. Especially when they have a strong southern draw or real country twang.
I like the Californian accent. I live in a southern state. I guess a southern accent sounds better than a northern accent unless the person sounds like Larry the Cable Guy. He's from Nebraska. He uses a fake southern accent. His accent is just annoying to me.
*Alicia Keys voice* " NEW YOOORRRKKK" I just love it when I hear a guy with this accent. Maybe its cuz I'm from there but I lived most of my life in the south.
I don't see what is sexy about southern accents (and I'm in Louisiana, and no we are not the stereotypical thought of insane swamp people, we are semi-normal, because we are still a little violent)
Canadien accents? What about Quebecois accent? Whenever a Quebecer speaks English it makes you smile :)
Southern. But I may be a bit biased since I'm from the south so that's the accent I'm most used to hearing. Haha!
There is absolutely nothing sexier than a man with an East coast accent Form New York or Jersey. They have their own lingo and I am in love with it, It sends chills up my spine
Terrible southern stereotypes. We have cities down here too, ya know. Not all of us live in the bayous or the backwoods and we don't all sound like we've eaten one too many coon.
I'M A SOUTHERNER, I'M BORN AND RAISED IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA... BUT TO ME THE SEXIEST ACCENT IS MY UP NORTH BOYZ... I LOVE NEWYORK MEN AND PENNSYLVANIA MEN ACCENT.. AND AT THE SAME TIME, UP NORTH MEN WERE THE MEN THAT WAS ALWAYS ATTRACTED TO ME.. I LOVE THEIR, WALK, TALK, STYLE... IT JUST TURNS ME ON!!!
The state I live in love not o use "r" like to say go park the ca please.
when you should say park the CARplease
BUT I LIKE ENGLAND GENTLEMEN, OR JUST SOMEONE going to treat me right
So uh, I don't think there is any accent in a California or Washington residents voice. I think there are some people who speak English with no accent (aka correctly).
thats crazy... I hate my southern accent... it is embarrassing to me and I try to hide it when I talk to others... strange how you think something is unattractive and others like it.
So 4 for the US, 1 for Canada, and zero for Mexico?
I guess it is accented English by native speakers only?
Being a brit, I can only tell the difference between Southern and not southern, all the others sound basically the same to me. Yes even Canadian im sorry
Wow, I'm REALLY surprised to see Southern in the winning, I've always hated sounding Southern, haha!
@Jbunch It's definitely not because most voters are Southern... more Northerners on GAG, in general.
There's plenty of accents from Canada, we aren't one homogeneous mass. The 'there are many more' disclaimer just doesn't cut it with this, sorry.
(I voted Southern for my favourite)
Im from the South and trust me when you work on phones in a call center a lot of people ask about your accent. The majority I encountered were from New Jersey. most of them asked about my accent noting that they liked to hear it.
Southern accents have to be the best. I have heard Northern and Northwestern accents and I didn't care for either. So yes Southern.
Boston accent is my absolute favorite! Nothing is sexier than that ;)
Why, thank you, dahhhlin' :-P
My man is from Wyoming, I love his accent. I live in Maine and do not hear many of the accents outside of New England though. :P
Southern! I was thinking northern states would gave more votes or at least Canada.. No offense was intended to those with a southern accent.
I live in NY and dated a woman originally from Houston, TX. She had the hottest accent, very sweet and naughty dirty talk in that accent. So hot.
I'm from Wisconsin, and I like my accent, honestly. Though there's the whole we don't think we have accents but apparently do thing.
Western. I don't really have a 'thing' for any accent in particular, but I kinda dig a guy with a western drawl. Helloooo cowboy ;-)
Definitely Jersey/New York those Italian men with those accents make me melt!! I like the jersey accent on girls sooo much!! Especially ScarJos jersey accent in don Jon!!👌💯
I voted C but i don't really know, I kinda like UK accent and I wish hear some USA Accent to be able to give an opinion.
Southern, but by Southern I mean East Coast Southern, especially Charleston.
East Texas twang is just horrible.
Ahhh voted for wrong one! I meant to vote for Canadian. I LOVE Canadian accents. So adorable and sexy at the same time. Love it!!
New York, New Jersey. Nothing can beat the infamous Italian accent that a lot of people try to imitate. Southern people sound like marble mouths.
I don't find any of them remotely sexy. FTR I just voted Canadian to see the results. That covers such a broad array of accents though.
None of 'em.
Southern sounds too hick.
Northern sounds too hokey.
Northeastern sounds too ghetto.
Mountain/Western doesn't have an accent.
Canadian only has accents on certain words.
lol, and yes, I'm western.
You didn't need to say, "doesn't have an accent" as good as said you were from that region lol
Booooo who the heck is voting for Texas. I personally like Michigan accents, er sorry I meant proper English ;)
